I was perusing the wine selection of my local liqueur store and found a Shiraz named Firefly. I bought it of course and still have the bottle. Has anyone else ever seen this?

I feel like I was just mauled by Jesus

Walking up to my local Blockbuster, from a distance I saw a large advertising poster for a film. At the top it said MERCENARY in large letters and below stood 3 people holding guns and such - two men and a woman in a kinda triangle with one man at the front..

With Serenity on my mind my heart like lept up a few thousand feet...before I realised it was actually just some action film - and why I thought there would be a Serenity poster at Blockbuster when it's not out until November baffles me

Once I was in small town south of my hometown, a lot south, so I was exploring around and I decided to get something to eat, so I was looking for a restaurant, and what did I find? I found "Canton chinese cuisinse restaurant". Tasty stuff.

Oh! I've got one. You know that Taco Bell comercial where this guys is showing off his rookie cards, and this other guys comes in and drops a bag of gooey Taco Bell food on it?

Well, the reaction from the owner of the cards reminds me so much of Simon I almost can't stand it. He gets so flustered and annoyed, and even his facial expression look like Simon.

Hmmmm. just made myself hungry for Taco Bell.

It's all about companions at the moment.

A Nora Roberts romance - always a good, quick, noncommittal read. Only the prologue started with a rich man's mistress, and how she prided herself on being an elegant and generous companion. That was last night.

This morning - and keep in mind, I work at a church - one co-worker (let's call her Sue) bemoaned the fact that she may be sick on her vaction. The other, Dee, who is a close friend, said that Sue's husband could take her along instead... as a companion. Sue said he's "not that kind of a guy."

Oh, and there was a classmate who used very Firefly-like lingo in an essay recently. Speaking of changes on the landscape and such.

Re: "your mouth is talkin'"

Oooh! Me too! I've used that on not one, but two students! Not very nice, perhaps, but very effective. Leads to Jayne-like sullen looks and silence.

Also, my boyfriend dyes his hair blue. This, of course, necessitates the wearing of gloves to keep the dye off his hands. The other day he was finishing up and proceeded to chase me around the room with his blue hands...

Conversations you should just not have:

Wandering around the house in the morning calling to the cat: "Bella! Where did you put Jayne's gun... Bella?"

Looking frantically under the furniture for this *little bitty bit* of plastic that you need for your model: "Come on kitty, where's Vera? *Wheeere's Vera?! Where'd Vera go?"

The cat's shied off no doubt with a snerk on her face, Vera's under some piece of furniture, and I am realizing that I'm really glad that I'm alone in the house for this.

"Come on, where's Vera?"

I used to be confused, now I'm just not sure.

I work at a movie theater, and on many occations people just hand me money and stare at me, not telling me what movie, what time, or how many. Lately I've had to stop myself on several occations from screaming "I'm not River Tam, I can't read your mind."

I guess when I was in a lecture the other day and we were studying the effects of alcohol on the National Health Service (many..... 1 in every 30 deaths in Scotland will be due to alocohol as opposed to 1 in a 100 in the last study.....) anyway we were watching a video about the structure of Alcoholics Anonymous and was thinking of Firefly because they have the "Serenity Prayer" at the end of the Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. I won't be forgetting about it any time soon.

We also have a cardiology professor called Dr Cobbe and I was reading about a Tamm-Horsfall protein produced by the kidneys. Ah the many things I won't forget now......

Hey, Chani!

I wrote this a while ago, based on the twelve steps of AA/Al-Anon, thought you might enjoy it!

Firefly: a 12 step program for withdrawal

step 1: Admitted you were powerless over decisions made by Fox executives.

step 2: Came to believe that Joss could restore our faith in mass media. Or at least get a movie out to us. AND have a reeaalllly long gag reel on the Serenity DVD when it comes out.

step 3: Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of Joss as we understood him.

step 4: Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of the tv listings.

step 5: Admitted to God, ourselves and everyone on FFF.net the exact nature of Fox's wrongs.

step 6: Were entirely ready to have Joss remove the defects (if any) of the movie during editing and post production.

step 7: Humbly asked Joss to let Mal be nekkid at least once in the BDM.

step 8: Made a list of all persons who have not seen Firefly and became willing to tie them up if need be to..."introduce" them to the show.

step 9: Made direct converts of such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others. And maybe even then, if necessary.

step 10: Continued to do guerilla marketing techniques in Best Buy, Borders Books, Circuit City and assorted video rental outlets, and when the DVD was hidden away, promptly displayed it at eye level.

step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our freakish knowledge of every iota of each episode so as to win the Firefly trivia contests at each shindig.

step 12: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry The Message (and all the other episodes) to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. While simultaneously attempting to actually live a life, work and pay bills when possible.
