Re-reading SGG's post all these years later and I gotta admit that he's a better writer than I am. It's a shame that most of the deep thinkers we used to have here moved on a long time ago and all we're left with is a couple of crash test dummies.

I've always thought that you're a good writer, SIX.
And SGG, IMHO, is an aspiring scriptwriter.
I would love to be a good wtiter. I'd love to be a good thinker.
Alas, I'm neither.
But I try.

It has become funny watching all of the Libtards start to gaslight the other Libtards.
The aftermath implosion might be more entertaining than the CHEAP FAKE Debate of fluent Gibberish was.
Soon Lord Darth Obiden is scheduled to speachify. Will he comment on SCOTUS slapping down his abuse of Unconstitutional Executive Orders such as student forgiveness, free tuition, free rent, and such, pray tell? Unlikely. Just his abuses of the weaponizations of the Department of Injustice.

Honor demands Joe Biden step aside
Democrats need an effective nominee, this isn't it
By Matthew Yglesias | Jun 28, 2024
https://www.slowboring.com/p/honor-demands-joe-biden-step-aside
I’ve long thought that concerns about Joe Biden’s age were overstated as a source of his political problems.
He didn’t really poll worse than other Democrats in head-to-head matchups against Trump, his vice president and most likely replacement was less popular than him, and his struggles seemed to me to be roughly in line with the political struggles of essentially every developed country incumbent. Indeed, I’ve long been struck by the fact that despite various economic troubles, the American economy is the strongest in the world and Biden is more popular than his peer leaders in other major countries.
What I did give some credence to was that Biden’s age was hurting his ability to perform the role of presidential candidate.
The most boring version of this is that he has a stiff old man gait, so he walks in a kind of shuffling manner. Hip flexibility and leg mobility are not important parts of doing the job of president, though. FDR, one of America’s best presidents, couldn’t walk at all. But politically speaking, people seem to care a lot about the president being able to walk confidently. FDR and his team, after all, hid his paralysis from the country.
(Woodrow Wilson and James Garfield collapsed while President.
Both administrations behaved atrociously to the end.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodrow_Wilson#Health_collapses
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_A._Garfield#Treatment_and_death )
Biden was doing less media than you’d expect from a president, and that was hurting his ability to get his message out. There were a number of possible interpretations of that, and my preferred interpretation was that it reflected an excessive level of gaffe-aversion among his communications staff — a team that frankly did not always seem aligned with the president ideologically. I thought they were worried that Biden would go off-script and say something accidentally moderate, like when he told the crowd at a fundraiser that he’s not a fan of abortion on demand. But I thought these fears were misguided and that a “let Biden be Biden” approach would be better.
The campaign, though, did not take my advice and sold the world on the debate as Biden’s big chance to do what he did at the State of the Union and show us just how good he can be as a speaker.
But while the State of Union did Biden a lot of good, it wasn’t an all-time great speech or anything. He delivered replacement level oratory, and simply accomplishing that improved the vibes and helped his chances. It was a clear sign that he was up to the job, but also that the bar for “this person would be a better nominee” was ultimate not that high. Now, after a debate performance that I and everyone else felt was below replacement level, I think it’s worth reminding ourselves that he didn’t even need to deliver a great performance to help himself.
There are naturally a lot of I-told-you-sos today from the people who’ve been slagging Biden on age grounds for a long time. I think it was correct to withhold judgment until we saw the debate. First and foremost because in the real world, if the nominee is not the president, it is overwhelmingly likely to be the vice president. It’s fun and interesting to speculate about various mechanisms to select someone else and it certainly could happen, but I think a political scheme that counts on Gretchen Whitmer walking through the door is a very unsound gamble. You shouldn’t try to shove the president out of the way unless you’re prepared to say the vice president would be better.
After watching the debate, I think it’s clear that Harris would be better.
Will she rise to the occasion and become a great politician? I hope so. But I wouldn’t count on it. Would she deliver replacement-level performance? I’m quite sure she would. She wouldn’t say “we finally beat Medicare” when she meant “we finally

I heard an interesting take (Alex Christforou) on why Biden will remain the candidate: campaign contributions.
Apparently, Biden has all of the campaign contributions (bc, of course, he "won" the primary) and the Biden campaign can't just give that $$ to the next guy/ gal. If Biden drops out, or is selected out, they have to give the $$ back to the donors. The mechanics of returning the $$ and getting it donated again to the next candidate are formidable.
So even if the DNC manages a surpise substitution at the convention, or Biden withdraws afetrwards*, that candidate wouldn't have a "war chest" to fund their campaign.
* How that would work

sidential-candidate-before-november-2024-06-28/
******
That accounts for opinion pieces saying that Biden is better than Trump, despite one bad performance. DNC aparatchiks will attempt to gaslight the entire American people.
I don't think that's going to fly.
Of course, smears against Trump will fill the bandwidth, especially now that the lawfare campaign ran into a brick wall.
Like the neocons who believe their own propaganda about Ukraine, Dem apparatchiks apparently believed that with a combination of the right meds and sufficient media spin, they could squeeze a few final performances from Biden and then prop him up in the Oval Office while others ran the show. (Yanno, like the past couple of years already.)
By putting all of their eggs into the fragile Biden basket, and not leaving a "Plan B", they're now in a no-win situation.
I'd hate to be DNC's chair, Jaime Harrison, right now.

But then, there's this ...
Quote:
Kamala's Ace In The Hole? $91 Million Biden-Harris Campaign Fund Looms Large
As the Biden presidency teeters in the wake of last week's disastrous debate performance that left no doubt about his sharp mental decline, discussion of Vice President Kamala Harris's prospects for becoming the party's new 2024 standard-bearer tend to focus on her (lack of) electability and Democrats' reluctance to pass over a black woman who holds the title that makes her a natural successor.
Little attention has been paid to what might be Kamala's greatest asset: her name on the $91.2 million Biden-Harris campaign account. Per federal election rules, in the event Biden drops out, that account can't simply be handed over to whomever the party eventually nominates for president -- unless it's Harris.
According to NBC News, the question of what would happen to the Biden-Harris war chest surfaced on a tense Sunday conference call hosted by the Biden campaign with an audience that included some 40 top Biden donors. While denying Biden might drop out, campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez's answer was that most of the money would fall into Harris's control.
But there's a catch: Many campaign finance experts say that's only true if Harris becomes the Democratic presidential nominee. “Both candidates are on the account,” former Federal Election Commission (FEC) associate general counsel Kenneth Gross told NBC News. “And I would think that she would be able to use the money if she is running for president. She would be the only one that could do that.”
Campaign Legal Center senior legal counsel Shanna Ports concurs, telling the Wall Street Journal that, if Harris is atop the ticket, “she would maintain access to all the funds in the committee and could use them to advance her presidential candidacy."
Critically, the Campaign Legal Center told NBC News that if Harris were merely the VP nominee paired with a new headliner, she wouldn't be able to tap the funds, as the new ticket would be considered an entirely different campaign organization. Political law attorney Claire Rajan said that was likely the correct interpretation of FEC law. Gross was unsure, and said interested parties would be wise to seek the FEC's opinion. Until that particular question is decisively answered, the lingering uncertainty is itself another plus for Harris.

OTOH, Joe* spent a billion dollarsin 2020. That's $1,000 million. $91 million is less than 10% of the Biden campaign's 2020 expenditures.

Politico: ‘We’ve all enabled the situation’: Dems turn on Biden’s inner sanctum post debate
The senior team’s management of Biden has grown more strictly controlled as his term has gone on.

Yeah. No shit.
Why are all of you chronically lying motherfuckers all telling the truth about this situation all of the sudden?
Now you've actually got me feeling kind of bad for Joe*. You people put him into this position when he was clearly unfit and incapable of handling it, lying to anybody who would listen to you everything to the contrary FOR YEARS.
Hell... none of you even knew if you could keep Humpty Dumpty together for 4 years when you started it. But you did it anyway. And now every last one of your bad bets, including this one have run dry.
And look at you. All of you. Now you're ready to just throw Joe* away like a used snot-rag.
There's a special place in Hell for all of you.
And yanno what....?
The more I think about it the more I realize that I trust old, senile, out-of-his mind Joe Biden* a fuck ton more than I trust any of you people in the propaganda business.
Just what are you all up to right now?

Biden better pull himself together pretty damn quick. I suggest he order Seal Team 6 to decapitate Trump and mount the skull on top of the flagpole at the White House. That will show the Trumptards that Biden has got his shit together. Yesterday the Supreme Court gave the President immunity from prosecution, so now is the perfect time:

Biden’s cognitive decline may be fairly recent
By Kevin Drum |July 2, 2024 – 5:28 pm
https://jabberwocking.com/bidens-cognitive-decline-may-be-fairly-recen
t/
Washington DC is suddenly full of anonymous Democratic insiders who are dishing dirt on Joe Biden's parlous mental state. The New York Times rounds up a lot of them for a long story today, and if you read carefully one of the recurrent themes is that Biden's mental state has fallen off a cliff in just the last few months:
People in the room with him more recently said that the lapses seemed to be growing more frequent, more pronounced and more worrisome.... Last week’s debate prompted some around him to express concern that the decline had accelerated lately.... This person said Mr. Biden had shown a “sharp decline” since a meeting only weeks earlier.... A senior European official who was present said that there had been a noticeable decline in Mr. Biden’s physical state since the previous fall.
Politico described Biden as getting worse recently during routine briefings:
During meetings with aides who are putting together formal briefings they’ll deliver to Biden, some senior officials have at times gone to great lengths to curate the information being presented in an effort to avoid provoking a negative reaction. “It’s like, ‘You can’t include that, that will set him off,’ or ‘Put that in, he likes that,’” said one senior administration official. “It’s a Rorschach test, not a briefing. Because he is not a pleasant person to be around when he’s being briefed. It’s very difficult, and people are scared shitless of him.”
Angry outbursts are a bad sign. All of this is a bad sign. And it might explain why nobody talked about it until now: no one is going to tattle about occasional lapses, and it may be that Biden hasn't shown any serious cognitive issues until relatively recently.
In any case, if this is right it means things are going to get even worse in fairly short order. Unfortunately, Biden himself doesn't see it. When you start to lose your faculties, the first thing to go is your ability to recognize that you're losing your faculties.
