After Day 59 in theaters, Ghostbusters is sitting at $199,141,000 worldwide, or 199.141% of the Production Budget. It grossed just over $400k this weekend in the US (I don't know what it did internationally this week since I stopped tracking this movie altogether weeks ago).
It's still in 819 theaters this week, down from 1,418 last week. It probably makes $100-$120k between Monday-Thursday, and then will lose more theaters before next weekend.
If it's still playing internationally and making anything at all, it probably shouldn't have any trouble limping over the $200 Million mark. But not even close to the $250 Million it needed to make.
There's also the fact that Bruce adds and subtracts international numbers for 6 months or more after a movie leaves the theaters, so when it's this close I would never make a guess that it doesn't hit $200 Million. But based off of the figures alone without accounting for Bruce making changes, I wonder if it has enough gas left in the tank to cross $200 Million if it isn't playing anywhere else internationally. It's only going to get $350k max by the end of next weekend, and it's all downhill from there.

Meanwhile, the studio execs have finally figured out what they were doing wrong these last 5 to 10 years and they're in the process of firing everyone involved. The writer/actor strikes backfired hugely and ended up being a great excuse to axe 2/3rds of them without any consequences.

It's currently at 199.65% of the Production Budget with the gas gauge on empty.

It's still outperforming even my updated prediction tables by around $3.5 Million for the 7th week, and so it's about a week ahead of where I thought it would be now. That's good-ish news. It won't be nearly enough though.

Hey! It looks like Bruce found some money in the international couch cushions.
It's at $200,488,155 right now, with only $58k of that $800k gain coming from the US Box office this week.
Congrats on your milestone there, even though you still lost just shy of $50 Million for Sony.
It will have at least one more week in theaters. Bruce says the theater count for Frozen Empire this week has been reduced to 135 theaters.
My prediction for $200 Million was on April 29th, so I'm counting this as another win for me.

June 6th appears to have been Frozen Empire's last day in US theaters with a total gross of $7,896.
Worldwide Total stands at $200,690,997.
Frozen Empire cost $100 Million and needed $250 Million to break even. This is a loss of $49 Million for Sony Pictures.
I'm not even convinced that you can blame this loss entirely on the terrible economy either. Afterlife didn't really do all that well compared to its budget just three years ago. In fact, the final Afterlife worldwide gross was only $2.9 Million less than what Frozen Empire just got.
Sure... inflation has killed the value of the dollar quite a bit between 2021 and 2024, so this did happen to an extent here, but the real problems that Frozen Empire were facing were spelled out in the OP of this thread.
Frozen Empire never had the capability of making the kind of money required to justify its $100 Million budget. Period.
Had they managed to keep the budget to Afterlife's $75 Million, they would have broken even at $187.5 Million and at least walked away with $12.5 Million gross profit. (They walked away with just a little over $15 Million profit on Afterlife).
This movie was just a bad idea all around. I would not expect to hear an announcement for a trilogy.
If some fools in suits decide to greenlight a 3rd movie, I'd suggest you cut the budget down to only $50 Million. Maybe you can start by giving the actors a resonable payday if they want the job, and tell them that the craft services tables are a lost benefit and they can brown bag their lunches to work like the rest of us do.
