Mr. Trump and Mr. McConnell have been estranged since December 2020, when Mr. McConnell refused to abide by Mr. Trump’s lie that the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president was the product of fraud.
Their relationship has essentially been over since Mr. Trump refused to accept the results of the Electoral College. But the rupture deepened dramatically after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. Mr. McConnell assigned blame and responsibility to Mr. Trump and said that he should be held to account through the criminal justice system for his actions.
Other members of the Republican Senate leadership have endorsed Mr. Trump for President.
Mr. McConnell has not endorsed Mr Trump due to prejudice against criminals being President.

McConnell truthfully called Trump a criminal who needs to go on trial. McConnell is resigning from leadership because he can't abide worthless assholes such as Trump. Other Republican Senators, Josh Hawley and J.D. Vance for two examples, are assholes and can work with Trump. Maybe one of them will become the next Senate Minority Leader. 6ix, you, Hawley and Vance disregarded the truth about Trump and substituted lies which is why you are Trumptards.
