Meanwhile, the Turkish parliament endorsed Sweden's NATO membership on Tuesday in a vote of 287 to 55. Putin and his allies have strongly opposed NATO expansion, arguing that it poses a threat to Russia and citing it as one of the reasons Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago.

If the Cheese-eating Surrender Monkeys of the EU notice that Russia might very likely conquer Ukraine this year, they could take larger action against Russia rather than merely sending ammo and best wishes to Ukraine.

SECO D: Snopes' take-down was "Putin didn't say the word 'Alaska'."
What Snopes said:

CLAIM: In January 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that the 1867 sale of Alaska to the United States was "illegal."
RATING:False
About this rating
In 1867, the United States bought Alaska from the Russian Empire, significantly expanding its territory. Fast forward to January 2024: Amid Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine and U.S. support for Ukraine, a rumor surfaced online. It claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin declared the 1867 sale of Alaska "illegal." For instance, one Reddit post on the topic read, "Putin stokes tensions with US, declares 1867 sale of Alaska 'illegal.'"
Moreover, social media users shared an alleged document signed by Putin, claiming that the sale of Alaska was not legitimate. < "Putin signed an order insinuating the sale of Alaska to the United States in 1867 was illegitimate. This mofo is trolling the West and our leaders shake in their boots in response," a post on X with the alleged official document read.
Huh. Sounds like the crap YOU post!
Quote:
We found that the rumor was also spread on TikTok. Our research indicated that the rumor originated from an article published on Jan. 21, 2024, by essanews.com website with the title, "Putin stokes tensions with US, declares 1867 sale of Alaska 'illegal.'" It read:
Interestingly, Vladimir Putin appears to have rethought the sale of Alaska to the Americans. It's not a joke: he's trying to give the impression that his influence extends not only to his country's future events but also plans to rewrite the past. Therefore, he signed a decree rendering the sale of Alaska illegal.
It is true that on Jan. 18, 2024, Putin signed a decree pertaining to the management of Russian Federation property abroad. A copy of it was shared on an official website of the Russian government, labeled as follows (we translated it using Google Translate):
Order of the President of the Russian Federation dated January 18, 2024 No. 21-rp
(On determining the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Enterprise for Property Management Abroad" of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation as the recipient of a subsidy for financial support of costs)
We used Google Translate to ascertain what the decree itself stated, in English:
(Google Translate)
The document did not, according to this translation, mention Alaska at any point, or state that Alaska or any other territory formerly owned by Russia was sold "illegally."
On Jan. 19, 2024, the Russian state-owned news agency TASS published a report on the decree, titled, "Russia to allocate funds for search of Soviet, Imperial Russian property abroad." It informed that Russia would allocate funds for an effort to "find, register and ensure legal protection of Russia’s property abroad, including property of the Soviet Union and the Russian Empire." The article continued (emphasis ours):
A relevant decree, signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, will allocate funds for the purpose to the Department of Foreign Property of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation.
The funds will be allocated to cover expenses related to "the process of searching the real estate property owned by the Russian Federation, the former Russian Empire, the former USSR," as well as for "due registration of [property] rights" and "legal protection of this property."

"Better Red Than Dead" is the self-preservation motto of most EU citizens. They are perfectly ready to surrender rather than increase spending on defense to 2% of GDP. What about joining the Army? Unthinkable!

EU countries as a whole devoted 1.5% of their gross domestic product (GDP) to the defence sector - far below the 2% target set by NATO, which includes 22 EU members.

The Russian government has announced its proposed budget for 2024. For the first time in modern history, the country is set to spend 6 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) on the military, and defense spending will exceed social spending. The war against Ukraine and the West is not only the Kremlin’s biggest priority; it is now also the main driver of Russia’s economic growth.

I don't blame them with the US and NATO waging war by proxy against them and filling the news feeds everyday with articles telling you that they are Satan.

It is the Russians falsely denying they killing tens of millions of Russians. It is the Russians denying they killed 4 million Ukrainians. 6ixStringJack, you and every other dimwit Trumptard I know get things backwards. Since you are people who cannot reliably tell the differences in real life, it is unsurprising you blunder into trouble. See the thousands of legal cases against Trump that he lost for how that works. Or see Russia's history of disasters that easily could have been avoided by people who weren't thickheaded and quickly turn to violence.

A Russian military plane with 74 people on board has crashed in the Belgorod region of Russia, near the Ukrainian border, Russian state media reported. The region's governor said all those on board were killed.
The cause of the crash is not yet clear and there are conflicting accounts about who or what was on board. Russian state media reported that 65 Ukrainian servicemen were on the plane, being flown to Belgorod ahead of a prisoner swap.
But Ukraine's military said the plane was carrying air defense missiles. CNN has not verified either side's claims, and has asked Ukraine for comment on allegations it shot down the plane.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Ukraine of targeting the plane that went down in the Belgorod region with a missile while addressing reporters at the United Nations on Wednesday.
"The Ukrainian side launched an air defense missile from the Kharkiv region," Lavrov stated, adding that the "fatal strike" targeted the plane."
CNN is not able to independently verify Russia’s claims.
Lavrov said he has also requested an emergency United Nations Security Council meeting at 3 p.m. ET today following the downing of the plane.
