Vote for this guy: "I'm going to Court tomorrow to fight for my name and reputation against a corrupt and racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who campaigned on "getting Trump," and a Trump Hating Judge who is unfair, unhinged, and vicious in his PURSUIT of me," Trump said on Sunday night on his social media platform Truth Social.

The trial comes a week after the judge presiding over the case found Trump liable for fraud and will largely concern the penalties he must face.

James is seeking at least $250 million in fines, a permanent ban against Trump and his sons Donald Jr and Eric from running businesses in New York and a five-year restriction on commercial real estate activities by Trump and his flagship Trump Organization.

Hail Caesar! Hail Trump - the American Caesar! I look forward to a Christian Caesar Ruling me. Nothing could possibly go wrong when a theocracy is ruling America. God is always Right.

‘Red Caesarism’ is rightwing code – and some Republicans are listening

The argument for a ‘red Caesar’ to rule US may seem esoteric but conservative thinktank behind idea has connections to Trump

The "New Right" now often discusses a Red Caesar, a leader whose post-Constitutional rule will restore the strength of his people. Not a Trumptard like "His People"? Too bad.

For the last three years, parts of the American right have advocated a theory called Caesarism as an authoritarian solution to the claimed collapse of the US republic.

Though on the surface this discussion might seem esoteric, experts who track extremism in the US say that due to their influence on the Republican party, the rightwing intellectuals who espouse these ideas about the attractions of autocracy present a profound threat to American democracy.

Their calls for a “red Caesar” are now only growing louder as Donald Trump has assumed dominant frontrunner status in the 2024 Republican nomination race. Trump has spoken openly of attacking the free press and has little regard for American constitutional norms should he win the White House again.

The idea that the US might be redeemed by a Caesar – an authoritarian, rightwing leader such as Trump – was first broached explicitly by Michael Anton, a Claremont senior fellow and Trump presidential adviser.

Anton has been an influential rightwing intellectual since in 2016 penning The Flight 93 Election, a rightwing essay in which he told conservatives who were squeamish about Trump “charge the cockpit or you die”, referencing one of the hijacked flights of 9/11.

He gave Caesarism a passing mention in that essay, but developed it further in his 2020 book, The Stakes, defining it as a “form of one-man rule: halfway … between monarchy and tyranny”.

Anton writes baldly that “the United States peaked around 1965”, and that Americans are ruled by “a network of unelected bureaucrats … corporate-tech-finance senior management, ‘experts’ who set the boundaries of acceptable opinion, and media figures who police those boundaries”.

His diagnosis of US social and cultural life unfolds under a series of subheadings that are almost comical in their disillusionment: “The universities have become evil”, “Our economy is fake”, “The people are corrupt”, “Our civilization has lost the will to live”.

Damon Linker, a senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and an author of several books on the American right, was early in noticing the extreme right’s drift towards Caesarism.

Linker told the Guardian that Anton and others in the Claremont milieu “have convinced themselves thoroughly that the current order is decadent, corrupt and far removed from the proper, admirable origins of American government”.

Linker said their current view is related to a long-held position among Claremont scholars that “democracy as they understand has been supplanted by bureaucrats and entrenched executive branch departments”.

“The fact that Trump lost in 2020 has just radicalized a lot of these people – it occurred to them that they might not win a proper election again,” he said.

“That would mean that – excuse the language – they’re shit out of luck unless there’s some other path to power. That’s where Caesarism comes in.”

The idea has been lodged in the broader sphere of conservative debate in rightwing writer Stephen Wolfe’s book The Case for Christian Nationalism, in which he proposes a “Christian prince” such as Trump whose rule would be “a measured and theocratic Caesarism”, and might perhaps be installed by “a just revolution” against secular rule.

And yet you remain completely oblivious to the destruction of society that Democrats are causing current-day.

Indeed.
SECOND, your faux-issues are tiresome.

What do you think about censorship to enforce BLM/ Critical Race Theory/ reparations; enforce irrational Covid policies, whip up anti-Russian hatred, and smother any questions about Biden corruption or Dem policies in general?

Encourage sexual mutilation (often regretted and not very helpful) in the name of "you can be whatever you want to be"?

Pit people against each other, impose authoritarian punishments for using the wrong pronoun, "microaggressing" in ways that only an overly sensitive person would notice, and illiberally enforcing the current narrative/"crisis du jour"?

Sorry dood, but your party is enforcing a religion if its own. So, yanno, fuck off.

Nothing indicates Gavin Newsom's Presidential ambitions as much as this:

Quote:

Newsom Fills Feinstein's Empty Senate Seat With Wealthy Black Lesbian From Maryland

First of all, it's an insult to Californians. Apparently Newsom is willing to trash California's unique interests, and disregard HIS RESPONSIBILITY AS GOVERNOR, in order to court support from a "regionally distant area" in order to balance his national appeal.

Reading further, I find this his appointment heads EMILY'S List. EMILY'S List raises funds for female candidates, no matter how war-mongering or ludicrous. (When I saw, lo these many years ago, they supported Jane Harmon, I started trashing their appeal for $$)

So in addition to sucking up to Biden* during his visit here in an unseemly display of obsequiousness, he's spreading his tentacles across country

Thanks to his "sanctuary", "soft on crime", pro-reparations (for what? CA was never a slave state), "green energy" policies, California has become a clusterfuck. I can't imagine what would happen if he imposed his unrealistic, extremist ideology on the rest of the USA.

Voters of all political persuasions, beware.

There is a movie that describes people who ascertain as you do. "Idiocracy" has jokes about your kind:

You think Einstein walked around thinking everyone was a bunch of dumb shits?

Yeah.

Now you know why he built that bomb.

Signym, in Idiocracy as in America, there is an overabundance, a vast majority of people like you and 6ix and Trump who are so pigheaded and stupid that only a nuke could change their minds. I haven't met you but people who I do know with your opinions are not prospering in America and they blame Democrats, not themselves for being stupid and pigheaded.

SECOND, you don't have a "mind" to change. You're just an assortment of slogans and hate.

As I mentioned in another thread, the presence of RFK Jr in the race definitely disturbs calculations.

I assume that the candidates will be Newsom (D), RFK Jr (I) and Trump (R).

So the question is, will RFK Jr pull more votes from Newsom than from Trump?

The people who work with Trump attest to his character:

CNN asked John Kelly, chief of staff to Donald Trump in 2017-18, if he wanted to say anything more about his former boss in light of recent developments. He did:

What can I add that has not already been said? A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person who did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family — for all Gold Star families — on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.

A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women. A person who has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason — in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person who has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

There is nothing more that can be said. God help us.

I wonder why more of Trump's opponents don't focus on this? Trump's casual contempt for those who serve and die in war isn't just revolting even for him, it's the kind of thing that might — might — influence the opinions of Trump's fans. At the very least, highlighting this stuff would force Trump to deny it. Even that's worth something.
