The attempted reassigning of the Left's WOKE culture experiment is going over like AirAmerica did on talk radio, back in the 90's. Utter failure.

Perhaps I misheard, and that this was his first PRE criminal origins story?
Honestly, it doesn't even matter. It's not about this guy or what he becomes so much as how SOCIETY treats individuals and what it took for one guy to be put in a series of tragic events leading to his mind breaking.
We see both sides... his faults as well as those who wronged him. Even those who he wrongly assumes wronged him, be it his mother, Thomas Wayne, the "system ", etc...
It's like Obi Wan told Luke...
Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon a certain point of view.
That's what makes this movie so great. You can't trust what we're seeing is true, half true or utterly made up. The view of Arthur varies as we come to see him in different lights.
I think the more you try to trash this movie, the greater it becomes.

So... Joker triumphantly retires from the Box Office after 22 weeks.
Total Worldwide Box Office: $1,073,624,800
This is 2 more weeks than Avengers: End Game.
It's also 5 more weeks than Captain Mary Sue.
It pulled in more cash outside of the US than Captain Marvel did by $36 Million, and that's extremely impressive given the fact that it had an R rating and wasn't shown at all in China. If CM wasn't marketed as a necessary watch before the final installment of Avengers, it no doubt would have lost Domestically as well.
CM has made a paltry $64 Million on DVD and BluRay after the fact, While Avengers: End Game has pulled in $91 Million.
I expect Joker to beat both of them quite easily in the post Box Office release.
If it can manage to make up $56 Million in DVD/BluRay sales over Captain Marvel, it will have ended up grossing more than CM on a budget of $120 Million less.
Without even counting any marketing budgets for either movie and just going by the alleged production budgets for both of them, Joker has already virtually broken even CM, including the $64 million made so far in CM DVD/BluRay sales and the fact that Joker hasn't yet come out on DVD.

Seems as though I counted the weeks wrong and gave it an extra week. Whoops.
Also seems like Joker had an extra week that went unreported until now too.
So NOW it has had 22 weeks. It's still showing in 72 theaters as of tonight. There's no mention in theater counts at thenumbers if it's going to get another week, but it wasn't mentioned last week either. Guess we'll have to wait and see on that.

It's not the feel good movie of the year, to be sure.
But it is a very well made movie, and worthy of its 11 Oscar nominations.

I still do not get the hype for this movie being called one of the greatest, maybe because Hollyweird has got so bad people are desperate for anything to watch?
it could have been called wacko-Clownman or crazy-StandupGuy but then it would have lost out on fans of the Warner Bros DC franchise....it is not really a 'Joker' movie, its King of Comedy remade, the true Joker we see in toons, comicbooks, movies He Is Supposed To Be The Opposite Of Batman and a powerful Rival...this guy is meek and crazy
Don't do so many sequels and prequels Tell the Backstory so quick that's what made Wolverine interesting as a character...a supervillain, getting beat up by homeless and street vermin, really? Criminal Mastermind I don't see it....others say it was a comment on the whole Left vs Right politics but I didn't get it, I don't always follow politics and consider it brain rot...maybe the movie was about Bush junior or Obama or Clinton or Trump or Biden...I didn't see its message

Ronald Reagan’s pronouncement, in his first inaugural address in 1981, that “government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem” marked a signal moment in what has become the most successful political counterrevolution in modern American history. Having won a smashing electoral victory, Reagan acted as if he were the latter-day inverse of his long-ago political hero, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Summoning the American people to “a rendezvous with destiny”—a line he had shamelessly filched from FDR in the 1964 speech on behalf of Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign that established him as the Republican right wing’s future leader—and pretending that the stubborn stagflation of the 1970s was a crisis of the same magnitude as the Great Depression, Reagan channeled Roosevelt’s optimistic rhetoric to attack the instrument of Roosevelt’s great reforms: the federal government. He aimed, above all, to revive the laissez-faire economic and social policies that the Depression had discredited, that Roosevelt had supplanted, and that even Richard Nixon had repudiated when he declared himself a Keynesian. But Reagan’s antigovernment politics and policies went much further than rolling back the New Deal.
Reagan’s Republican Party of 1981 was very different from Herbert Hoover’s of 1933: it had become the refuge of millions of formerly Democratic white conservative voters in the Solid South who resisted the civil rights reforms of the 1960s. Accordingly, behind his cheerful veneer Reagan made sure that he tapped into the fierce resentments of federal authority, dating back to the Civil War and Reconstruction, that fueled that resistance. The antigovernment fervor that grips the nation today is the long-term product of the right wing that Reagan called to arms (literally, in the case of the National Rifle Association) forty-odd years ago. It was his attorney general Edwin Meese, in tandem with the newly formed Federalist Society, who started packing the federal judiciary with the conservative judges who have gutted federal protections for voting rights, abortion rights, and more, while inventing, with fake history presented as “originalism,” an individual’s Second Amendment right to own and carry military-grade armaments. It was the Reagan administration that eliminated the FCC’s fairness doctrine, which mandated that broadcasters provide balanced coverage of controversial public issues, paving the way for right-wing talk radio inciters like Rush Limbaugh and G. Gordon Liddy and, on cable TV, Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News to amplify antigovernment paranoia.
