In an op-ed last month, The Global Times, an English-language Chinese tabloid known for its nationalistic coverage, accused Disney of turning “classic tales into ‘sacrificial lambs’ for political correctness” by casting non-white actors in classic tales.

“When the beautiful stories that have accompanied countless children’s childhoods become arenas for racial conflict, they lose their meaning and become devoid of romance and fantasy, replaced by arguments about skin colour,” said the tabloid, insisting that such casting controversies were not driven by racism but “lazy and irresponsible storytelling”.

The blowback – much of it overtly racist – has also played out among ordinary Chinese film-goers online.

On social media platforms such as Sina Weibo, some users have criticised Bailey’s appearance and her Black facial features.

Other Chinese commentators online left more positive reviews, with a poster on the film site Mayoan saying that Bailey’s appearance made little difference to children and she represented Princess Ariel’s most essential character trait – a brave spirit – well.

While China does not have the same racial history or politics as the US, audiences are still sensitive to how race is portrayed in Hollywood films, said Chinese-born YouTuber Yao Zhang, who follows Chinese and Taiwanese news and culture from Canada.

Traditional Chinese beauty standards emphasise pale skin and large round eyes, Zhang said, and some viewers – and government officials – want to see Chinese values reflected on the screen.

“There’s no correct way of looking at [the film in the US],” Zhang told Al Jazeera. “But in China, there is 100 percent a correct way to understand it.”

Zhang compared the backlash to the public’s reaction to supermodel Lu Yan, whose small eyes and high cheekbones were deemed unattractive in China but gained her renown in the West – although some Chinese bloggers claimed Lu’s success was a Western ploy to make China look bad by elevating “ugly” women.

A fond memory I have of Chinese racism is bringing an American-born Chinese daughter home from a ski vacation to her born-in-China mother. The mother went berserk because her daughter's skin was darkened by the sun on the snow. The mother even said the words "I'm not racist, you're the racist" to her own daughter. The dutiful daughter was very careful to cover her face with Coppertone SPF 50 sunblock in the future so that she would never tan again.

How important are these characters to people, for example could a Brown Face Japanese play Rosa Parks or Anne Frank for example.

Japan tried to bring in 'Brown Face' for a while but the Kyogaru or Ganguro did not act nice, they behaved like uncivilized slutty street people that spent too much time in the tanning salon? distinguished by a dark tan, lots of curse words and contrasting weird make-up liberally applied by fashionistas.

Some of Japan even thought they were inspired not by 'Black Culture' but by ghosts and demons who are depicted with a similar appearance, such as those in kabuki and noh costumes.

Sun tan or lack of sun tanning is a Race?

This high class geisha look is everywhere in culture its across medieval Europe, its across Asia, its ion Latin America and its not exactly racism, its in all place from some Brazil to Greece to Indonesia to Italy to Thailand to Dominican Republic.

Some posh elite said Tanned people got tanned because they were poor who worked in the Sun too much, the elite said they were low IQ and if they had work they would spend the day digging a field. The person in the field all day had no education, there was no other work for them or so the myth or taboo said and the Sun browned them
the high class educated looked whiter because they would live inside a big house and avoided the sun. In cultures and civilization you had people who were outdoors, the Native American, the pastoral nomads owning livestock and the workers who would protect the cow, you had carnies and tinkers and trader nomads. Asia and Europe were not Nomadic once they started making borders and building cities and farms, China looks down on Mongol culture as a brutal time that left little art and culture behind but nomad life is in Mongolia and the horse remains a national symbol in Mongolia. Rich Arabs and North Africans drinking tea in their homes and big tents, the ones who got brown in the Sun were Arabs out in the sand with their camels or Beja nomads from Northeast Africa, they are basically the same 'race' but its a Class thing not a Race thing, the poor ones always brown, the same for India, the lower caste out in the sun begging.

You might try to classify it with your mind as a racial Brown or White or Black thing. But not having a roof over your head to be less brown and avoid the heat of the Sun, its truly 'Class' system. It is nothing linked to a foreign race, it is more about class and often little to do with being a Bantu or a Congoid or have some distant gene relation to some Australopithecus-Africanus old upright human from Africa, people within their own White or Yellow Race and Culture classed the more 'pale' as having lived in doors and the tanned worked the field and maybe had to sleep under the Sun without a roof.

I don't know about bloggers and conspiracy

but Hollyweird culture makes trash now, adverts everywhere for Leslie Jones for example and some freak show Drag Queen transexuals

Everything is re-made or re-imagined into a weird thing it was never supposed to be

Netflix might have been something with potential but its Tv is absolute mindless perverted trash

We know Hollywood has no originality any more

The machine just recycles and spits out another product

Some People might think it was once a Hollywood Original but it was always copied

"The Little Mermaid" - Den lille havfrue a kids fairy tale written by the Danish author Hans Christian Andersen

There is also a statue portraying the mermaid in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the story was written and first published, a major tourist attraction since its unveiling in 1913

If Hollyweird wanted to do something ethnically different they could remake 'Moana' or could look to Austronesian peoples could have picked South Sea island cultures, the Statue of Pania in New Zealand, a figure of Maori mythology.

This site is calling South Koreans racist

Fast X is #4 in the Top 10 movie ticket sales for the world, but it is a recycled product. Lucky for you, Fast X is a free download from https://yts.mx/movies/fast-x-2023

Here is a review of Fast X from the same free place:

The worst one yet.

Fast & Furious 9 did what a lot of franchises do at some point: it took the action into outer space. This seemed to me like a good point to call it quits. But with the money still rolling in, nobody in Hollywood was going to end this cash cow; thus we have Fast X, the first in a rumoured three part finale (until the inevitable reboot).

I've been on board with the franchise since the start, sticking with it as it moved from the street racing world into more James Bond territory, the action getting more and more ridiculous with each chapter. Seeing how each movie would top the one before in terms of craziness is what kept me entertained. But Fast X is just dumb, and it's not even dumb fun.

The stunts are more preposterous than ever, but the film is never thrilling, every interminable action scene enhanced by rather ropey CGI (the flames, in particular, look really bad). There are some dreadful attempts at humour (mostly courtesy of Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris), and we get all that inevitable crap about the importance of family (if I see the gang having another barbecue I think I'll hurl).

And then there's Jason Momoa as villain Dante...

I can see what they were going for -- kooky flamboyant psycho capable of almost anything -- but Momoa is absolutely awful, his performance bordering on camp, not helped by the character's dubious choice of attire. It's hard to find Dante menacing when he's flouncing about in a silky shirt. I'll no doubt watch the next two films for the sake of completion, but with Momoa on board it'll be hard going.

Fast X is easily the weakest of the series so far, but I'll give it 3/10 because I guess things could get even worse.

Here's another list for you, because you are stupid.

Worldwide Opening Weekend and percentage of Production Budget made on opening weekend including all American made films in the global top 30:

1 The Super Mario Bros. Movie / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $377,000,000 / 377%
2 M3GAN / Budget: $12,000,000 / WWO: $45,000,000 / 375%

6 Scream VI / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $67,000,000 / 191%
7 John Wick: Chapter 4 / Budget: $100,000,000 / WWO: $138,000,000 / 138%

10 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $290,000,000 / 116%
11 Knock at the Cabin / Budget: $20,000,000 / WWO: $21,000,000 / 105%
12 Jesus Revolution / Budget: $15,000,000 / WWO: $15,000,000 / 100%
13 Fast X / Budget: $340,000,000 / WWO: $319,000,000 / 94%
14 Cocaine Bear / Budget: $35,000,000 / WWO: $28,000,000 / 80%
15 The Little Mermaid / Budget: $250,000,000 / WWO: $164,000,000 / 66%
16 Shazam: Fury of the Gods / Budget: $125,000,000 / WWO: $66,000,000 / 53%
17 Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves / Budget: $150,000,000 / WWO: $72,000,000 / 48%
18 AIR / Budget: $70,000,000 / WWO: $30,000,000 / 43%
19 65 / Budget: $45,000,000 / WWO: $12,300,000 / 27%

SPECIAL MENTION:
Mummies / Budget: $12,000,000 / WWO: Unknown / ?

A movie that I've never even heard of until just right now called Mummies is currently 31st on the global list at $53,193,065 and needs a mention because only 8.04% (less than $5 Million) of that came from the domestic market, while the other 91.96% came from international box office. It has now made 442% of its production budget back, making it a clear winner based off of its low budget and its extremely high international take vs domestic take, two things which The Little Mermaid has never had in its favor.

The Little Mermaid is hanging out with all the flops. The only ones even remotely close to it that will succeed will do so because they had reasonable budgets.

And the only other list that matters:

Winners and losers from the previous list:

Winners:

1. M3GAN made 1,475% of its production budget of $12 Million. [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros Movie made 1,313% of its production budget of $100 Million.
3. Evil Dead Rise made 768% of its production budget of $19 Million.
4. Scream IV made 483% of its production budget of $35 Million. [FINAL]
5. Mummies made 442% of its production budget of $12 Million. [FINAL]
6. John Wick: Chapter 4 made 432% of its production budget of $100 Million.
7. The Pope's Exorcist made 405% of its production budget of $18 Million. [FINAL]
8. Creed III made 365% of its production budget of $75 Million. [FINAL]
9. Jesus Revolution made 353% of its production budget of $15 Million. [FINAL]
10. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 made 314% of its production budget of $250 Million.
11. Knock at the Cabin made 275% of its production budget of $20 Million. [FINAL]
12. Cocaine Bear made 254% of its production budget of $35 Million. [FINAL]
13. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse made 248% of its production budget of $100 Million.
14. Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania 232% of its production budget of $200 Million.

Losers* (The movies who didn't double their production budget to cover marketing budgets and theater takes):

1. Shazam: Fury of the Gods only made 106% of its production budget. [FINAL]
2. 65 only made 124% of its $45,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
3. AIR only made 129% of its $70,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
4. The Little Mermaid only made 137% of its $250,000,000 production budget.
5. Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves only made 139% of its $150,000,000 production budget. [FINAL]
6. Fast X only made 186% of its $340,000,000 production budget.

*As of right now, Shazam, AIR, D&D and 65 are the guaranteed losers in 2023 because they are out of the box office and will not make money back for their investors. The Little Mermaid and Fast X are in trouble because of their production costs.

ALSO OF NOTE: If you reference the first list above, Cocaine Bear is the ONLY movie so far in 2023 that didn't gross at least 100% of its production budget on its opening weekend that did not end up at least doubling it by the time it is out of theaters. The rest of the movies that didn't do so are on the Losers list directly above.

The lesson for Disney, besides firing all the woke staff, is to learn that its GUARANTEED BILLION DOLLAR MOVIE days are over. M3GAN only had a $12 Million budget and will likely end up being the 2nd most profitable movie of 2023 for its investors when Super Mario's theater run is over.

They've got to stop spending over $200 Million on every movie they make unless they want to start making things that people want to see again.

It's one thing to look at The Little Mermaid as a huge win by saying it's 8th place Domestic and 13th place Worldwide for 2023 after its first weekend (now 4th place and 8th place, respectively), but when a movie only makes 65% of its production budget worldwide on its first weekend its doomed to lose money in the end after real world accounting is factored in. If the movie had cost $100 Million to make, it would have already been a winner.

The race swapping in the remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid really got to me. This is by far my angriest rant yet.

Amen, brother.

These white dipshits that are pro-Disney and race swaps in all of their forms in media have hardly had any life experience working with people who aren't white and walk across the street if they see a black person walking their way on the sidewalk. They don't even know how to talk to a black person IRL.
