I am a huge fan of x-men... well, I guess on the scale of x-men fans, I have no tattoos, so I can't be that serious, but anyway. Loved the movies, and am upset that it looks like our favourite studio ever looks set to mess up x-men. They lost their director to superman, and look set to lose some actors to the same... grr. yuck. horrible people. can't get anything right.
ok. end of senseless rant.

Ok, question - what does this have to do with FOX?

Fox are the studio behind x-men
realise this is a slightly different issue to the TV thing and apologise for my ranting and raving.

Who exactly have they lost? I saw Storm was a possible cut but then she was pretty pointless anyway.

Well, first it's 20th Century Fox, not Fox TV, that is doing X-men 3. One makes movies, the other just puts other people's work on TV.
Second, they can't force people to do a movie, although I'd be surprised if most of the major cast members don't have it in their contract, most should have signed on to do at least two more. I don't find a few cast members being in Superman a big deal, they can do both movies. Directors tend to have a lot more work to do on films than actors.
Even if they do lose a few actors it's not like there is a big loss. There's still a ton of characters to draw from.
I've taken a wait-and-see approach. It's all in who the creative team on the movie is going to be. I have faith in the movie studio. I generally haven't had any complaints with them recently.

The latest rumors that I've heard going around is that James Marsden, the actor who played Cyclops in the first two movies, has all but been removed from the third film. Apparently, there's some bad blood between X-Men 3 and Superman, stemming from the fact that Bryan Singer left the X-Men franchise to go to Superman. Thus, when Marsden accepted a small role in the Superman film, the people behind X-Men 3 decided to get rid of him for that reason. Theres also talk that Famke Jansen, who played Jean Grey, has talked to Singer about a role in Superman, and if she decides to take it, she could be removed as well.
Forgive me if I got any of this wrong, but I know I read this somewhere lol.

Wasn't Cyclops all but removed from X-Men 2? It's not like he would have been missed if his role had been cut entirely.
It's interesting that Alan Cumming certain doesn't seem unhappy that Singer has left the project. Perhaps he got tired of tantrums from his stars (looks suspiciously at Halle Berry).

I guess you've got a point there. But that was because the first two films revolved mainly around Wolverine. Supposedly, the third film is going to have a lot to do with Jean Grey returning as the Phoenix. So needless to say, if Famke Jansen gets cut as well for taking a part in Superman, that's going to really throw a wrench in things. And if you think about it, if the next story is supposed to revolve around Jean Grey, Cyclops would most likely have an increased role as well.

Quick business reality check here. If Famke Jansen and James Marsden signed options for X-Men 3, and it's shoot conflicts with anything they sign later, tough noogies. If the X-Men producers had that option, they would likely exercise it - the reality appears to be that they signed most people for the first 2, and messed up on options on many of the cast beyond that (point of fact - Maguire, Dunst and, I believe, Raimi I only optioned for 3 Spidey movies).
Fact is this - there isn't a locked script, the shoot is meant to start June (has to, as it has a locked down release date as well) so things remain in the air. They seem to be going the Dark Phoenix route, which would seem to require Cyclops, but the fact is he is one of the less popular characters in both comics and films - most people that saw the first two movies wouldn't miss him.

I think they might squeeze Wolverine in to that role since he has the hots for her.
