It is really easy to see what is going on here once you see the invoices, which Michael Cohen will tell the jury were falsified. Cohen did go to jail over these invoices. Trump will lie about asking Cohen to falsify the invoices. Then the jury decides whether Trump is a liar. If he is by the wisdom of 12 jurors, then Trump is in trouble with the law.

Pecker's testimony will be that Trump is the liar and Cohen is telling the truth about Trump and the falsified records. At that point, in order to confuse the jury, Trump's lawyers will need witnesses to testify that Pecker is lying about Trump.

Trump will try to convince the jury that the Stormy Daniels payoff was a scheme involving only Michael Cohen. Trump will claim he knew nothing about Cohen's falsified invoices. If even one juror believes Trump, then Trump's legal trouble vanishes into hot air.
