I would not be shocked if people in Canada were abused by a similar Hollyweird Weinstein Casting couch but the Canadian flavor of weird, it might not be the film industry, it could have happened at some Royal Sport Gym, it could have happened later with Parties and Mind Altering Drugs in Hollywood but some says to me there were 'issues'.
The movie credits show Pit Pony film, Trailer Park Boys, Homeless to Harvard, ReGenesis is a Canadian television series, Wilby Wonderful...it means Ellen Page started acting at aged 10 and who knows what happens in these industry without parent minders around.

I'm one of the few Americans who probably have watched the full original run of The Trailer Park Boys... way back before it was made more mainstream by the Netflix revival.
Yeah. She was in it. Not sure if she was 10 back then, but couldn't have been more than 12 years old. She was good. But I think she was only in the first season and just disappeared and was never mentioned again after she was off the show.
I never looked into it, but I could imagine that maybe they removed her from the show because of some outrage. It definitely wasn't a kid's show from the beginning, and maybe parents in Canada didn't want to see her being friendly with an adult drug dealer. There was no weirdo sexual undertones or anything, but he did have her doing (non-drug related) errands for him like getting him snacks, and if I remember right he was teaching her how to con people. Basically, he was a horrible role model for any kid and he was taking her under his wing. She wasn't a main character, but she had more screen time than most of the other side characters did.
