Well, we're trying to get those shy folk from NJ (and nearby) together! There's a thread going in the OB and I've been asked to crosspost.

So far we're tossing around possible NJ Meetup sites and the notion of a mini-shindig (in AC?)

Also we're kinda getting off-topic on the Buffy thing, but that's because I'm *just* getting into Buffy, so please excuse - Season 6 has Spike Sex!

Alien, guess it depends on how many folks respond.

Started as an idea for a NJ Meetup, but seems to be getting more interest outside of New Jersey than within its borders. At this point, I'm hearing from less than a dozen people, but since we've only begun to discuss a firm date, that figure is just the start.

Then we pick a casino/ hotel/ venue and see what sort of deals are out there! If it's a small block of rooms or...wow, serious group rates.

Also, this began as an overnight for locals but if more out-of-area types insist, I guess it *might* turn into a weekend. Anybody else have thoughts?

I proclaim that ALL Browncoats should attend.

Also, I think we should stay in a penthouse or high-roller suite at whatever hotel we choose. If everyone pitches in an extra dollar, then I will be paid for. Whaddya say!

OK, I've started a group travel account at Groople and -- just as a starting point-- put in a request for a hotel quote for SIX rooms, March 19-20th.

I'll do the same for May 20-21st, and we'll see what we get. My request asks for 2 beds+ per room, connecting rooms/suites, table for scifi-fantasy gaming. We'll see what pops up. Oh, and for the nonce I'm focusin on major boardwalk hotel/casinos.

Bring a sackful of kittens - we're going to play for really high stakes!

Well, I'm a Jersey Browncoat (is that a Brown Jersey?), but I don't think I can manage a hotel stayover. Kids and such = zero free time for me (not for everyone, I know). But I can try to stop by and say hi, perhaps! I'll keep listening to hear how the plans gel.

You should have mine, too. Don't know about getting a room, was just planning on driving down to Lewis and taking the Ferry across- that's a very good trip, I think. If I can't take the ferry, then I'll sneak into Jersey some other way.

I've got a sleeping bag in my car, I could crash on somebodies' floor one night and chip in for the room (sorry, but I'm kinda stretched, with Balticon in May and Relaxicon in April).

Well I'm not good with the mailing list thing. I think Rob has the PA Shindig mail list. He sent it to me and I had it but since I apparantly didn't save it to my address book properly I don't have it any more. But if you ask Rob he can help you get in contact with all the PA Shindiggers anyway.

Not neccessarily just interested in May. Balticon Weekend is out, though, I'll be in Maryland.

I'll send you my email next thing.

As to the other cons, Relaxicon is a small gaming convention, only about fifty people meeting in Delaware on Tax Day weekend this year. I'll be running a Firefly tabletop roleplaying game with original, not canon, characters. Other folks will be running mini-LARPs (Live Action Role Playing- you dress up and try to stay in character), board games and such, plus there's usually a talent show, Saturday Night At The River Styx, for the uninhibited.

Balticon is the Baltimore area SF con, more into fiction than games. I need to get organized, I'm supposed to be running a Firefly panel in a few months (panic! 8-). We'll talk about the movie, Gorram Fux, Companion dating rules and what Book really did during the War.

Whew! How'd I get involved in all this? Oh, yeah, the Big Damn Movie is coming out this year!

Is anyone going to be at Farpoint this weekend? Renfield tells me that Krad will be on the firefly panel. Also, it'll let you scope out next years Balticon location. I floated a thread that links the con. If you come you can see yours truly get beaten up onstage. I think Hero mightpay to see that.
