Russia is doing fine.

You should be more concerned with the death of your Party and be doing whatever you can to try to stop them from committing suicide.

That was an interesting video, THUGR. If YOU haven't watched it, it basically said that if the USA/western world imposes sanctions on any nation that trades wth Russia "("secondary sanctions") then Russia's prime energy markets - China and India - will decide to end trade with Russia bc THEIR largest trading partner is the USA and they won't want to risk that trade.

However, he misses an important point when he says that China and India can always get their oil (nad gas) from somewhere else.

The big (unasked) question is At what price?

If Russian oil is taken out of the world market entirely, prices have been guesstimated to rise to $300/bbl (or more). That's bc Saudi Arabia is producing at maximum sustainable wellhead production, Nigeria is producing at maximum bc of political instability, and Venezuela's infrastructure is so degraded (thanks to sanctions) it can't increase production, etc.

That's the reason why the west hasn't lowered the boom on Russian energy exports, but is trying to keep Russia in the market by setting a "price cap". And that's why the west has limited enforcement mechanism to denying insurance to tankers that carry Russian oil that is contracted to sell above the pice cap.

Not only is the enforcement mechanism impossibly complicated to target, it's also easily gotten around by Indian, Chinese, and/or Russian (or other) -based insurances.

If that weren't enough, Russia has already presented its buyers with tough choice: If you go along with the "price cap" we will refuse to sell you any oil.

Seeing as Russian oil is CRITICAL in the current tight market, buyers will have to decide which they can forgo: an export market to the USA, or an energy supply.

This could be one reason why the USA and western elite appear to be ready to torpedo western economies; they might be thinking that if they can reduce energy demand that can mitigate the "oil price shock" that would be sure to follow strict sanctions. I persoanly don't think that the EU nations can politically sustain an imploded economy unless they resort to Nazi-level repression. But it's a complicated topic with conflictinginterests within and between nations.
