The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that it had officially invited independent experts from the UN and the Red Cross to investigate the shelling of a detention center in Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). The Friday bombing killed 50 prisoners, with dozens more wounded.
“In the interest of conducting an objective investigation of the strike on the detention center in Yelenovka, which led to the deaths of many Ukrainian prisoners of war, the Russian Federation has officially invited experts from the UN and the International Red Cross Committee,” the ministry said.

Ukraine did not kill Ukraine prisoners. The Russians did it. Russians locked prisoners in a building, then destroyed the building to send a message to Ukrainians fighting Russia.
It has been pointed out that the Geneva Convention requires that prisoners be removed far, far away from the battlefield so that these "accidental executions" can't happen. During WWII, America moved POWs all the way to the USA. That means that when Russia has POWs it is suppose to move the POWs over the border into Russia, making sure that prisoners are kept safe. Unlike the USA during WWII, Russian executed POWs or made them slave labor.
The Russians are doing the same to prisoners today as they did in the past, kill or enslave:
