I know, I know, it's been done before. However, I continue to have them, these "moments" that transport me, mentally, to ThisLand. So I was hoping there were others who had them as well. What am I talking about? Well, I saw the last name "Washburn" the other day and totally lost track of what I was doing, what with all the smirking. The first name was NOT "Hoban" but it didn't need to be, you know?
Basically, have you come upon something that made you think of Firefly? Or you associated with Firefly? Or perhaps a dream? Share them with us, your friends.
My favorite from that long ago thread was when I was watching a video of some show I had taped. This was six or seven MONTHS after F*x cancelled the show and three or four before the DVD set was released and I was seriously jonesing for some FF. I was mildly curious to see what I had taped over (OR just too lazy to hit rewind) and when I saw it was "War Stories" I sat straight up and pointed at the tv, looking around, wanting to tell someone else what treasure I had just found. No one there but me and the dog. He seemed just as excited as I was though. I watched that little scrap of the show for MONTHS, until I got the DVD set for Christmas. What a heartwarming tale, eh?
Your turns.

I've been thinking about that other thread lately too. I work in construction, and there is a new housing development west of town called "Badger's Run." Also a few miles west of that you can visit "Cobb Cemetery." I was driving through a little wide spot in the road in Central Texas the other day, a blip of a town called Donie, and lo and behold, there was "Yolanda's Cafe." I started to stop there, but thought better of it. You never know, it might be a place she set up just to meet prospective husbands, then she poisons them.

I live down the street from Canton, and can NOT avoid snickering every time I see the sign when we enter it.

Everytime I eat some meal bar at lunch, Atkin's or the like, which are a protien for the most part, I think of FF. I automatically wonder how anyone who must, in the Firefly 'verse, live on protien. I think of the "chocolatey tasting as possible" reference to Simon's cake, and try to choke the meal bar down.
Anyone who's eaten one, you know they taste like horrid hunks of sawdust with chocolate flavored goo, dried on top. And the deceptive names of "s'mores" and "granola" on the label. The latter has a texture resemblng styrofoam.
I guess if you're hungry enough and you're in space with no Wendy's or Sonic drive thru in your galaxy...

There's a local radio station near where I live called River FM. It makes me smile when I see their logo:

(I get a crazy image in my head of the crew having their own radio shows every time I see it.) :)

I once was shopping at Target's makeup section and ran across a lipgloss whose color was 'Firefly'. I think I said OHMYGOD out loud, then looked around quickly to see if anyone had heard me.
Bought the gloss, and luckily really liked the color on.
Thanks for providing a place to share these moments, BTW. There are not many people I know who would understand the way fellow Browncoats (and especially in this case female ones) do!

I had a double FF Moment when watching Stargate Atlantis the other day…
Spoiler for episode 119 “The Siege Part I”
Select to view spoiler:
There is one part when Sheppard, Tayla, and Ford are falling back through the stargate shooting, the head of security starts accusing Tayla about betraying them to the Wrath when Sheppard and Ford jump in saying they were attacked by a T-Rex! I just busted out and said, “Curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal Tayla!” Then in another scene Ford said they should start giving names to the planets they travel too, and I thought they could call the T-Rex Planet “This Land”.

I broke up a forceful disagreement between two students yesterday. While I was trying to get to the bottom of the issue by asking them one at a time to explain themselves, a third student trying to play 'star witness' kept interrupting with her input. I turned to her and said sharply, "Sarah! Your mouth is talkin'. Look into it."
Yeah, I know, I paraphrased, but still.

The other day, on a message board RPG I write at, I read one thread where the two writers in it are both Firefly fans. They mentioned an 'upside down cow foetus'.
I was both amazed and horrified to discover that this had been a totally unintentional reference.
