In the garden, and RAIN!!!!

Found out I'm going to be going to a comedy show with my old man and my youngest brother. I haven't done anything with him outside of hanging around the house since our old man took us to Medieval Times when he was like 5 years old. That's going to be cool.
I'm going to take that opportunity to stay over a few nights at my Grandma's and get more work done over there. My aunt has been getting a monster amount of the crap I've cleared out to the curb for trash pickup every week despite the insane heat (100 degrees or above on Tuesday night the last two weeks). I told her to take a break from it this week and only found out last night that she didn't listen to me.
So all of the stuff should be out of the garage before I fill it again. 
Today I go back out to the garage to get more electrical work done. It's going to be hot and miserable, but oh well. If I wait for a cool day to do it I might not be wrapping that up until September. At least it won't be 100 degrees.
Now that all of the trash I've been throwing out is gone except for one full can and the lawn stopped growing from lack of rain, I've got two large cans to get the rest of it out. I still have the best of the shelf/boards in there that I'm not going to throw out yet because I might want to use those to fabricate the sides and back of the two lower shelves in the pantry that will have drawer slides on them. One more reason to finally wrap that up so I can get that wood out. But I've got some large/long 1/4" plywood that I need to chop and throw out. It was up by the headers in the porch below the cedar and is pretty lousy wood. I wasn't going to use it for anything else other than putting it back up there, but I've decided that it's not going back up there and I'll either be putting paneling or drywall over everything in the end.

Out for a walk in the sun in a bit. Just a couple of minor things to do. I just hope that the elevators are working today. They weren't yesterday morning when I went out for mah jong.

I super-overslept, making up for previous bad sleep, so I didn't get out in time this AM, but so far getting out early has been working for me.
Glad that you're getting out with your dad and bro!! Sounds like fun!

Yeah, this last week or so the guys seemed to be checking in more with inspectors and such from what I could hear.
But they are running today and it looks like they are finished. No workmen around and no equipment for today. Will know better on Monday as tomorrow is Saturday.
I got out though and it is a nice bright sunny day. Not too hot. Just right for my tastes.

Boy I hope so. It's been miserable here almost every day for nearly 3 weeks. Looks like it will cool off Sunday and Monday, but right back to the hot temps after that... although it looks like not as hot as it has been which is nice.
I got two more lights up in the garage today and sealed up all the boxes except for one in the corner that needs to get to an outside outlet, and the one on the opposite corner that I'm going to fork off for the two final overhead lights and down along the wall on the side of the overhead door (the "half" part of the garage) for an outside outlet on that side. Somewhere in the mix I will be wiring up the outside light above the overhead door, but I haven't decided how I'm going to do that yet.
The last two overhead lights are going to require some construction on my part since they can't hang as low as the other four because they'd break right off the second I opened the garage door.
BRIGHT! BRIGHT! BRIGHT! I turned them on after it got dark outside and it was like the sun was burning in the garage.
20,000 lumens now!... and only 240 watts to power them.
It was a hot and miserable day to do the work up on those ladders though. It's got to be 20 to 25 degrees hotter up there than it is on the floor.

My old man says I don't need any more light in the garage from the pictures. From his perspective, he isn't wrong. But if I'm going to be working with wood out there, I'm going to need light sources from various angles. I want to be able to make marks and cuts wherever I'm standing at any time without worrying about dragging anything into the sweet spot.
The front of the garage is only slightly less bright than the center and the back end, but there will be shadows cast on that end without any light up there.
I managed building all of those shelves with only one very bright light in the center of the garage, but boy was that a pain always having to rotate around so I wasn't blocking the light.
I'm going to get what I can get done by around 6PM so I can clean up and do some shopping. I have some things to take back that I won't need and I have a few things I need to pick up that I didn't know I'd need.

Aren't LEDs great??! So much light, so little power! when we replaced our garage fluorescents with LEDs it was like... er...night and day.
You're right about needing light from all angles. There is general lighting... enuf to get around a room... and then there's "task" lighting. People need bright light for detail work like marking and cutting, o'wise they really can't see what they're doing.
Glad you have a lot of photons in your garage now, SIX!
