Okay, I'm late, and everyone already picked up their coats from the coat room, ignored the dubious stains and left the party, but I lack neither the geographical locality nor the televisual technology to have seen this earlier.

Wow. To quote Bill Hick - "scuse me, scuse me, man with bigs balls coming through".

A three hour epic TV movie, that has one minute of recap for the seasoned viewer, and that's 10-15 minutes in. Not sure if PKW will bring in new fans, but as a goodbye for the old ones its a generous gift.

This is the bar folks. This is what Serenity and The Memory of Shadows have to aim for. Story, acting, effects, music (particularly appropriate in the current climate). I'm not going for spoilers, but this had laugh out loud funny (the chalk board writing!) and tears down the cheeks moments as well as cool action sequences. The chemistry between the cast was a joy to see, and everything seemed to flow so effortlessly.

Will there be any more? Who knows - but if not, that was a hell of a way to go out.

My copy was ordered yesterday from Amazon. Hope to have it early next week. I loved that the fans were able to get it back for a resolution to the cliffhanger ending of season 4. The last 25 of the last 30 minutes were some of the best scifi drama I've ever seen. The chemistry between Ben and Claudia was incredible. My only disappointment was that it didn't get the full fifth season to fully develop all the plot points.

I love Firefly and Farscape. The fact that Farscape used "muppets" was an initial turn off to me and I was unwilling to give the show a shot. I got into it last summer and was amazed at the quality of the writing. The stories were well written and the chemistry among actors was fantastic. Now I can't even imagine the muppets being portrayed by real actors. And many of the episodes were fun. There was a lot of comedy in the 88 episodes.

If you have the chance, fellow browncoats try it out. But you have to start at the beginning (like our beloved Firefly) otherwise you'll miss a lot of the initial story/character development. It was on Sky One the last two Sundays. It rocks. It made me wish I'd seen all of the episodes when they were on (I missed lots of telly when I went to university without a TV).

So are the Starburst editions enough for a newcomer to get a handle on things? I've only caught episodes of Farscape here and there because until a few months ago I didn't have SciFi. I love what I've seen, but I really need to get up to speed on how it all started and the relationships between the characters.

Loved Peackeeper wars by the way. The end killed me (in a good way).

If you have a netflix subscription or the like, rent all the episodes. It will take you a while, but it is all worth watching. The character relationships have many layers and if you miss a epi, you might not "get" something later on. Before PK Wars aired, my husband decided he wanted to see all the epis he'd not seen which was season everything after the middle of season 2. He watched it all in a day and a half and said he would have missed so much in PK Wars had he not seen those. Some of the "chemistry" that you recognize between the actors I think is actually their chemistry with you, knowing their complete history.
Pardon if I rambled, just love Farscape.

heh--I only checked it out when I heard that there was a new Henson production. I generally liked it, but it's a very different animal than Firefly.

Well they appear to be. The Starburst vol 1 collects the first 7 episodes. Vol 2 collects the next 7. I expect Vol 3 will have 8 to round out the first season. With new releases 2-3 months apart, I'd expect a newcomer to follow along pretty well.

I haven't purchased any of the sets yet, but I plan to pick up the first 3 March 15 when the 3rd volume is released. This is the first series of affordable Farscape releases. The first round of DVD releases had 2 episodes per disc @ $25USD. A complete season would set you back $275USD. The second round of releases were complete season sets @ $150USD each. The third round of releases (the Starburst Editions) now bring the season cost to $90USD minus the Amazon discount (of course). The Peacekeeper Wars miniseries retails for $20USD.

I've got the first two Starburst editions. They have commentary from both the first DVD issue of season 1 and some new commentary added after the show's cancellation. It's cheap packaging and the insert on the first edition lies about there being commentary for PK Tech Girl, but all in all, definitely worth the cheap price for such an awesome show.

OK, here's the deal... I just bought & finished watching Farscape - Peacekeeper Wars. Now, I have to confess that I wasn't all caught up to speed with the series when it was cancelled. I really only watched the first couple of seasons w/ any regular intent, and then less so later on. It's clear that I could benefit from watching the latter episodes, which I plan on doing. Good idea w/ the netflix suggestion.

What did everyone else think of F:PW ? Was it enough? Did it answer questions that were left on the table as the series ended ? ...or did it just feel like they threw something together in order to get one last hurrah out of the cast?

It was the perfect finale, I feel. I have been an avid (someone recently referred to me as a ‘rabid’) fan since the very first season of Farscape. I pretty much, yes, cried when it was cancelled. And now to have PKW. If I believed in god, I would call it a blessing. As it is, I’m going to praise the cast and crew for producing such a marvellous mini series. One would not believe that in three more hours you could wrap up most of what the series stood for – PK Wars managed to do it pretty damn well. I can’t pick out a single fault in it, and it brought closure. Closure, and a lust for more! LOL.

Definitely did not feel thrown together In fact, it feels almost methodically thought out, and flows together with the rest of the series seamlessly. I can't quite decide which I was more excited for; PKW, or Serenity. I got hyperactive in the week running up to both
