I have no idea how raccoons would behave out by you with your temperatures the way they are though. If anything I'd think that their birthing season would be closer to new years through early February since it would be the only time you could even laughably consider it cold by you. But that's me possibly making the erroneous claim that they breed in the cold and birth just when the coldest temperatures finally break when there could be other reasons that their behavior is predictable in these parts.

Not a bad idea to find somebody to get up there and check things though for piece of mind. Good luck.

That's reassuring. But just in case ... it was ammonia that did the trick for you, right?

Yes. Ammonia. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING else worked.

LOUD music, banging and scratching on the walls from inside, bright lights, making loud barking noises and even opening the small doorway into the unfinished porch attic and staring her directly in eyes only 12 feet away from me before hissing and barking at her didn't scare her off. Once they bear the children they don't want to leave for any reason whatsoever since it's a big risk to move them until they're ready to go out on their own. These are all things that would keep a raccoon from ever coming inside, but are worthless after the fact.

But when I finally bought a few bottles of Ammonia at the dollar store and poured them into about 6 tumblers in the unfinished part of the attic she was gone within 24 hours.

It was probably massive overkill on my part to do it that way, but I was desperate at that point. I got the idea from my friend and his dad and they were able to get the raccoons out using "ammonia bombs" which were just paper towel soaked in it and gobbed up into a ball that they threw in there. It's some pretty heinous stuff.

Everything done for today. Walk was nice but a chilly wind blowing. But at least it is dry.

Fixed my old man's electrical issue. About as easy as expected with no surprises.

Put quite a few miles on the car with no change to the evap or cat monitors. Not exactly happy that I'm being forced to do this crap because of BS Democrat policies at a time when gasoline costs more than it ever has because of BS Democrat polices. At least I was driving around and burning gas aimlessly like I had to two years ago though. I'll have plenty of driving with a purpose while trying to get these damn things working in the next month.

You guys got any plans for Easter?

I don't. Not yet, anyway! It kinda snuck up on me this year. I'm going to send out note cards instead of Easter cards bc I can't count in dear daughter buying reasonable ones

*****
I had a helper come over today, and between chatting and taking breaks we managed to dig up 1.5 bins of weeds.

Yeah, it's a good little show. I like listening to the accents. DI Perez has quite the "burr", I've noticed in these later seasons.

A "burr" is what the Scot's accent is called because they have a tendency to roll the letter "r" when they speak. And of course the "dinnae", "cannae" and such.

Nothing special happening around me unless I get a call next weekend from my boss to come over for supper.

I'll get some shopping in for me over the week. Might get a pork tenderloin and do the usual with it.

Mind some of that will depend on how my mouth feels after a trip to the dentist to finish the root canal next Saturday.

Honestly, I don't even know when Easter is. My mom's family used to celebrate it, but after my Uncle who always hosted it passed I don't think I've ever done anything for the holiday. Good memories though.

Nice.

I managed 13 hours of work in the garage today. Making up for some lost time.

I built 4 of the stackable shelves so far, and pulled a bunch of nails and prepped all of the rest of the wood I need. I think I have the plan for exactly which boards I'm using for each step of the process now.

Tons of cleanup and reorganization done. I saw two walls that I haven't seen in nearly a decade today.

All of the insulation is down. I probably managed to save 3/5ths of it, and the rest is in the trash. I have to run some more electric on the exposed areas now, but otherwise the shelf building should go really quickly now.

Oh.. and I know how the mice were getting in now, so that will be sealed up.
