KIKI mentioned once that instead of oil pipelines maybe we should have water pipelines.

Can you imagine - went the post- flying a helicopter looking for leaks? All you'd need to do is look for the big green area!

But, yeah ... water transportation across the USA. In any year, there are always some areas that get too much, and some that don't get enough. It's too bad we can't move it from flooded areas to parched areas.

Back and in. Took umbrella but didn't need it luckily. But it is still trying to rain.

Also for a Friday it sure feels like a Saturday to me.

Changed my spark plugs today, and ran some Cataclean through the system.

The Good News: The car seems to be running smoother.

The Okay News: I haven't gotten any codes since the battery was reconnected.

The Bad News: The CAT monitor and EVAP monitors are still incomplete.

The EVAP monitor is expected, since the system won't even check it unless the tank is 1/4 to 3/4 full and most of my driving today was on fumes while the Cataclean (hopefully) worked its magic. I've got half a tank in there now and after getting hot and sitting overnight I should get a good EVAP read fairly quickly tomorrow. Then I just have to pray the CAT goes well so I can pass the emissions.

The CAT monitor not clearing by now is disappointing. Although the EVAP monitor would normally clear first under normal driving conditions, the CAT monitor checks are not dependent on the EVAP to clear first. I didn't really do a ton of driving on it since the battery was hooked back up, but I know that in the past the CAT monitor did clear fairly quickly once I took care of the issue that was keeping it from showing OK. I hope I'm just misremembering the speed that it cleared before and tomorrow will go well.

I decided I wasn't going to burn $30 worth of Bidenflation gas for no reason tomorrow since I have about 5 weeks to pass the test, but it turns out my old man needs some help with electric in his house. It could have been put off until later this week when I was going to be out that way anyhow, but this will give me an excuse to run some drive cycles and hopefully I get lucky.

Dog ran out nto the yard tongiht and chased a raccoon up a palm tree and onto our roof. Ugh.

I haven't seen any around here for a long time. I was thinking it's a problem we didn't have anymore.

Knowing how aggressive and destructive they can be I grabbed a fallen palm stalk and swatted at it until it ran away ... somewhere across the roof. But I better get someone up on the roof to make sure that there are no holes anywhere.

Unless it's a mom looking to make a litter, you're probably alright. With all the reading I've done on them, they're not interested in making your home their home for any other reason, and with the extreme temperatures that you're having right now I don't think they'd have any interest in making your hot attic their home.

I have no idea how raccoons would behave out by you with your temperatures the way they are though. If anything I'd think that their birthing season would be closer to new years through early February since it would be the only time you could even laughably consider it cold by you. But that's me possibly making the erroneous claim that they breed in the cold and birth just when the coldest temperatures finally break when there could be other reasons that their behavior is predictable in these parts.

Not a bad idea to find somebody to get up there and check things though for piece of mind. Good luck.

I picked up two sets of nice ball-bearing drawer slides for the two bottom shelves I'm going to build in the pantry today. I had a little time to burn to research exactly what side I needed and figured I'd pick them up while I was getting something I'd need to fix my old man's electrical issue.

Not sure when I'll get to them since my garage is torn apart, I have an emissions test I need to pass, I've got a lot of outside obligations coming up the next few weeks and I'd still like to plan a time when my brother can come and visit before it gets really hot, but I hope to find a little bit of time to get the shelves built and installed so I can say all of my closets are finally finished. The slides are MUCH wider from top to bottom than I thought they'd be from the website, but that's fine. All the more reason to build up the sides and the back, which was an idea my grandma had since she said anything I'd put on the shelves might fall off of them otherwise and I hadn't thought of that. This way it would hide the slides when the shelves were in place.

I think it's going to be smarter to do the pantry shelves before I do build the two kitchen drawers. This way can get a good feel for these slides and see how they'd work when I'm trying to install them in a cabinet that will be a lot harder to maneuver around.

Annoyed that I couldn't go to my old man's until after noon and now it's been pushed back another hour. I'M BORED!!!

Laundry day as soon as I get up and I hope the elevator is working. Sounds like it is. Should be nice for my walk when I am finished by the looks from my windows.

That's reassuring. But just in case ... it was ammonia that did the trick for you, right?
