Quote:Signym is repeating Kremlin talking points. “We must thank the Europeans for their agricultural sanctions. Well done. Thank you for all your sanctions,” Putin proclaimed on Oct. 21, 2021. First, they believe that sanctions harm the West more than they damage Russia. According to the Russian government’s newspaper, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the EU, U.S., Australia, Norway and Canada lost up to $8.6 billion a year because of the sanctions war. By 2019, the EU alone lost $240 billion from the sanctions war, almost five times more than Russia did, Putin bragged.

The advise giving in 2021: If the U.S. and its allies are serious about confronting Russia, the focus should be on limiting Russia’s ability to earn money from exports — first and foremost, from oil and gas. Sanctions should target Russia’s status and prestige, something Russians care deeply about. Symbolic measures, such as excluding Russia from international sport competitions or cultural events, would do more to harm’s Putin’s domestic popularity than limiting access to technology on target banks. More than anything else, Russia and Russians seek recognition and status. Thus, the West should hit where it really hurts.

But Viktor Shokin was ousted for the opposite reason Trump and his allies claim.
It wasn't because Shokin was investigating a natural gas company tied to Biden's son; it was because Shokin wasn't pursuing corruption among the country's politicians, according to a Ukrainian official and four former American officials who specialized in Ukraine and Europe.
Shokin's inaction prompted international calls for his ouster and ultimately resulted in his removal by Ukraine's parliament.

6ix, you should know the rest of that story: Without pressure from Joe Biden, European diplomats, the International Monetary Fund and other international organizations, Shokin would not have been fired, said Daria Kaleniuk, co-founder and executive director of the Anti Corruption Action Centre in Kiev.
"Civil society organizations in Ukraine were pressing for his resignation," Kaleniuk said, "but no one would have cared if there had not been voices from outside this country calling on him to go."
In a July phone call, Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate Biden's actions. That prompted a whistleblower to accuse Trump of asking a foreign government to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, which is now the subject of an impeachment inquiry.

I notice that we always get Kremlin "talking points" (propaganda) from SIGGY about 24 hours before they make their way to MSM. Most recent SIGGY spoiler: "Russia is repositioning their troops to focus on the East, which they wanted to do in the first place." Next day I'm hearing that on the news. Timing is telling.
I have faith that the US and EU allies are doing, or are going to do, everything they can to punish Putin.

How the sanctions will boomerang back on us:
Quote:
German Retailers To Increase Food Prices By 20-50% On Monday
https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/german-retailers-increase-food-price
s-20-50-monday. Russia is a key exporter of energy and wheat to the world, and a major exporter of strategic metals, fertilizer and other necessities.
Economies simply can't run without gas, oil, and food. The USA will experience price increases bc we will be competing in the world market for basics (and American producers, as SECOND so kindly pointed out, will raise prices accordingly), but the EU is critically dependent on Russia for gas and oil. Interruption will halt production. Another nation critically dependent on Russia is Japan.
Where Biden* shot America in the face is making U$D a risky place to park money. Sanctioning the central bank of a major economy is causing other nations to think twice about keeping U$D assets (necessarily in USA banks) and Russia, China, central Asian nations, and India are working hard to de-dollarize their mutual trade. De-dollarization is not a new phenomenon, but USA sanctions on Russian banks accelerated the trend and brought together a number of nations that wouldn't have otherwise collaborated on a common project by creating a common enemy (us).

A) Maybe if you paid attention to OTHER THAN M$M you would be ahead of the news curve! The Duran, The Saker, Zerohedge are available. Don't confuse your ignorance for my brilliance.

B) I never said that Russia is NOW focusing on the east. I have been posting that Russia (and Chechens and DPR and LPR forces) have ALWAYS focused on the east. Just bc the M$M had a misguided laser focus on Kiev doesn't mean that's where the action was.
C) Your "faith" (belief/religion/delusion) isn't reality-based, it's an ideological addiction. I hope you hit bottom soon and are cured of your addiction.

Cap'n, Second and Ted have no good news coming out of the Democrat party and they know that the Democrats are going to get destroyed in the November elections, so all they can do is talk about Putin.

Putin paints the war in Ukraine as a proxy war between Russia and the US, but the invasion is a post-imperial land grab and a global problem.
6ix and Signym aren't acknowledging that things would be different in Ukraine if Trump were president.
If Mike Pence had ignored his Hoosier values of truth, justice and the Constitution and cooperated in overturning the election results, Trump could now be president. Donald Trump is right. If he were still president, the situation would be far different in Ukraine.
There would be no danger of armed conflict between Russia and NATO over Ukraine because there would be no NATO. Trump contended throughout his first term that NATO was outdated. He belittled and insulted leaders of European nations in the alliance. He was reluctant to support the collective-defense agreement known as Article 5. By now in a second term, he would have pulled out of the alliance and scuttled it.
There would be no suggestion from a President Trump that Vladimir Putin is a butcher and must go after Russia invaded Ukraine. Trump praised the “genius” of Putin as Russia amassed troops for the invasion. And he wouldn’t let a little thing like Russia seeking to dominate its neighbor ruin his bromance with Putin. Hey, he pulled out of Syria and let Russia dominate there.
There would be no long, heroic stand by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He would have been dead a month ago. Trump holds a grudge. Zelenskyy didn’t announce an investigation of Joe Biden before the election, even when Trump held up needed defensive weapons for Ukraine to force it.
Fervent Trump supporters like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Madison Cawthorn haven’t forgotten. They call Zelenskyy a “thug” and “corrupt.” Trump, if still president, wouldn’t forget and wouldn’t coordinate massive arms shipments and sanctions to save Zelenskyy and thwart friend Putin.
There would be no Ukraine. Without the United States and a unified NATO providing the help to stall the invasion, Russia would have smashed into Kyiv and disposed of Zelenskyy, still with a terrible toll in Ukraine civilian deaths but with less delay against an outgunned Ukrainian military left without needed weapons.
Trump, though no longer president, still speaks out, claiming that he really won re-election and demonstrating how he would be responding to Putin if still in the White House.
Putin would of course be believed if he announced, “Yes, the Bidens accepted millions in bribes along with that thug Zelenskyy to set up a Nazi government and germ warfare labs in Ukraine.”
Well, U.S. intelligence agencies didn’t believe Putin’s claims that troops on Ukraine’s border weren’t going to invade. They wouldn’t believe he had turned truthful now after a life of lies.
But Trump would believe. He famously declared at a meeting with the Russian leader that he believed the word of Putin over findings of his own intelligence agencies.
If Putin did provide dirt helpful for Trump’s election in 2024, it would pretty much cinch that Trump, if president again, would approve Putin’s conquest of Ukraine and signal no concern over Putin’s desire to return other countries, Poland, Hungary and the Baltics, to their status in the old Soviet Union.

Russians are well deserving punishment inside Ukraine and back in Russia itself for what their country did to Ukraine, but Signym has refused to admit all Russia's moves are war crimes. Signym needs paperwork. Signym needs all the boxes checked on the forms and proper procedures have certified Putin is a criminal and his Russian army is crudely murdering Ukraine's civilians:
In the woods outside Bucha today we met Maria, 80, who hadn't minded the Russian soldiers so much when they turned up at her house. It was only after they withdrew that she found out they had tied up and executed her neighbours.
De-mining experts going into Irpin told us it would take months, if not years, to clear all the regions the Russians had held around Kyiv. These areas might have been liberated, but not one soldier or civilian we met was celebrating. There was just sorrow, and anger.

Signym, Putin's self-described de-Nazification of Ukraine isn't what Putin is actually doing.
