I agree with the thought in general ... I think the challenge is to get people off their smart phones/ tablets/ PC/ television/ videogames, where they spend 10 hours a day. I think it's bad for people's minds and bodies and especially bad for developing youngsters who need to be "out in the world" playing and learning, instead of in the toxic social environment that they've built for themselves.

And I agree SPECIFICALLY that "news" has also been designed to be addictive.

I've been tracking my own screen time, and it's much higher than I'd like. The tablet on the kitchen table is always on, and when I want to take a break between things its far too easy to sit down and get involved here or start reading those "trending" article about nothing in particular, or play a few games. Then DD likes to watch TV with us in the evening; it's our "family time" but that can take up to four hours!

All of this is getting in the way of me doing things and learning things, so I'm going to be dialing back my screen time (unless I have a specific "how to" or "what is" question that I need to have answered).

ETA: Okay. Ravikat was the dude's last name, and Naval was his first name.

Shows how much that dude has been on my radar since 2019.

My apologies, but I see thread titles changed in here all the time, and it's a really, really stupid thing to do. Especially when Haken is investigating a possible bot and/or human hacking attempt on this site.
