Canada's women hockey team is still on a winning streak. We beat Russia.

Yeah. I've never actually played curlng before. First time I'd ever heard of it was when I caught part of a Leslie Neailson movie where he was the coach of a curling team maybe 20 years ago. Then in the mid-2000's I caught a few matches and couldn't stop watching it.
Congrats on the hockey win. Is Russia bad this year or is Canada just that good?

I've never curled either. Outside of being in a rink once when a game was going on, I've only seen it on tv when the sports for the news comes on.
I have no idea SIX. The European teams for the women's side don't seem to be there this time around. I mean Canada just wiped the ice with Finland, Sweden and now Russia. Have to see what happens when me meet the States on the ice.
The US is Canada's other big rival in hockey besides Russia.

Sweden looks to have come out of the gates pretty strong.
US doesn't look to be doing so well right now.
I should pay more attention to the Olympics. Ever since I cut the cable back in the mid-to-late 2000's I really haven't paid it much mind since there's no easy way to watch them outside of short clips on YouTube.

It is good.
We have pretty good hockey teams.Lots of time for the US and Canada to pick up medals.
I hear about it on the sports and maybe look up the standings but that is all.

Canada has 6 medals after today. 1 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze.
We are second in the standings now after Russia.
ETA: Had to correct mistake. ROC is Russia not China.

Well, I only count the golds, and everything else is a tie-breaker. (Silver count tie-breaks gold, bronze count tie-breaks silver).
Canada is in 10th place right now, and the US without any golds is sitting at a pathetic 15th place.
Hopefully the US doesn't embarrass themselves. I haven't been hearing any activism BS this time around, so I don't think it's that. My hope is that they didn't disallow these athletes to compete and train during the prime of their lives because of Covid and they're just no good anymore. You know China and Russia weren't doing that to their athletes.

I count all medals. Canada moves up and we move down in the standings. It happens. So far things seem smooth for out athletes which is good.

Canada's women hockey team also beat Finland and Sweden as well. And by huge margins. Finland was 1 and Canada 11. Sweden it was 1 and Canada 12.

Speaking of Speed Skating, Biathelete Joanne Reid is daughter of Olympian Speed Skater Beth Heiden, which I didn't know.
How about that Olympic Level Chinese Cheating in the women's Speed Skating, knocking out Canada players. First I heard Genocide Games, Then Child Labor Games, maybe now Cheating Games. Who really conjured that China would comprehend the concept of Sportsmanship at the cost of effective cheating?

Well I have heard that the living and eating conditions are terrible for the teams.
I haven't heard the US athletes complaining about that because I think it was expected and they also brought a lot of their own food with them just in case.
I think Norway or Sweden have been pretty vocal on Twitter about it though.
It doesn't seem to be stopping them though. Sweden is in 1st place with 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Norway is in 5th place with 3 golds, 1 silver and 4 bronzes.
US drops to an even more pathetic than yesterday 17th place with 0 golds, 4 silvers and 1 bronze.
Canada is in 11th place with 1 gold, 1 silver, 4 bronze.
If you go by sheer medal count, this changes to
Norway - 2nd place (8 medals)
Sweden - 4th place (6 medals - Tied with Canada)
Canada - 4th place (6 medals - Tied with Sweden)
USA - 5th place (5 medals - Tied with China, Slovenia, France, Germany)
Tracking places gets messy with just a straight up medal count. Not only that, but it bumps Russia up from 7th place to 1st place at 10 medals.
