January 6th was a fucking joke, and so is the Biden* administration.

Then try not to respond to the survey results:

Most Republicans support efforts to overturn the election.

In an NPR/Ipsos survey taken two weeks ago, 57 percent of Republicans said that “Trump and his allies were exercising their correct legal right to contest the election” or, more boldly, that they “did not go far enough in contesting the election.”

Only 29 percent chose one of the alternative answers: that the former president and his allies “went too far” or “broke the law trying to overturn the election.”

In the UMass Amherst survey, 62 percent of Republicans said Vice President Mike Pence should have “used his role in counting the Electoral College votes to challenge Joe Biden’s victory.”

When a CBS News/YouGov poll asked what Trump should do now, 56 percent of Republicans said he should run again in 2024, but an additional 20 percent said he should “fight to be put back into the presidency right now, before the next presidential election.”

Given these views, it’s not surprising that rank-and-file Republicans want to shut down the Jan. 6 investigation. I would have phrased the sentence: Given how loony Trump voters are, it's not surprising that . . .

The majority of the public does not believe that this was an “insurrection” despite the mantra-like repetition of members of Congress and the media. The public saw that terrible day unfold a year ago and saw it for what it was: a protest that became a riot. (For full disclosure, I previously worked as a legal analyst for CBS News).

Not surprisingly, the poll received little comparative coverage on a day when reporters and commentators spoke of “the insurrection” as an undeniable fact.

Yet, when CBS asked Americans, they received an answer that likely did not please many.

Indeed, CBS did not highlight the answer to the question of whether the day was really a “protest that went too far.”

The answer was overwhelming and nonpartisan. Some 76% believe that this was a protest that went too far.

Mr Trump’s latest grievance-laded statement is the fourth he has issued in the 24 hours since Mr Biden blamed his predecessor’s lies about the 2020 election for the 6 January insurrection.

Mr Trump, who in the days before the attack endorsed a plan to overturn the results of the 2020 election and install him for a second term, exhorted his followers to remember that he is “not the one trying to undermine American Democracy” despite the fact that numerous officials from his former administration worked on a plan to do just that.

Jennifer Mercieca, a Texas A&M University professor of communications and the author of The Rhetorical Genius of Donald Trump, told The Independent Mr Trump’s latest missive was a “totally predictable response” to Mr Biden’s speech.

“We are in a battle for shaping public memory of January 6th and the 2020 election and the threats to American democracy. We saw the Democratic Party use the occasion to solemnly mark the day, noting its place in American history and how January 6th, 2021 was a violation of our democratic norms, and we saw the Republican Party ignore or trivialize or mock those commemorations as irrelevant or sensationalized or part of the larger conspiracy,” she said.

“It's fascinating to watch the attempts to shape public memory happen in real time”.

Jonathan Turley might be technically correct for a peculiar reason. It is the President's decision when there is insurrection. Since Trump didn't declare Jan 6th an insurrection, it's not one. But I don't think the Constitution writers imagined it would be the President's rhetoric whipping up an insurrection since the President is the one who would be sending troops to suppress the insurrection. I guess James Madison and Jefferson didn't think a Trump was possible.

Biden* is not our legitimate President, Second.

Plain and simple.

I'm not bitching about it, however, since four years of Biden* and his administration along with Democrat control of the House and Senate is EXACTLY what we needed.

The "normies" who don't pay attention to the news from either side are all waking up and seeing what's going on.

Democrats will be destroyed next November.

Yup. That's exactly what we've all been wondering about you all these years, Ted.

Congratulations on finally grasping the usage of too.

I guess shame can really be a great motivator.

Maybe Biden* is just doing it wrong.

P.S. I'm also extremely impressed that you didn't say "Not sure witch", which would be which witch is used when describing the Wicked Witch of the West, Nancy Pelosi.

The following are all true, but if Trump can convince enough voters any of it is false, then Democrats lose the small influence they have in Congress:

Trump didn’t just lose the election.
He lost 60-plus legal challenges.
He lost in his efforts to get Republican state legislatures to undo the results.
He lost his effort to get his VP to overturn the results.
He lost three separate counts in Georgia.
He lost an audit conducted by his allies in Arizona.
He lost in his multiple efforts to get the Supreme Court to intervene.
No candidate ever found more ways to lose an election than Donald Trump.

You could take Trump completely out of the equation and Democrats still lose their small influence in Congresss by a WIDE margin.

Historically, as we know, the side that holds Presidential power tends to lose seats in the house and senate.

But unlike in 2018 where the Blue Wave you guys kept talking about didn't pan out, 2022 is going to see a massive Red Wave.

They're doing everything wrong. Everything.

These stupid fucks are still going around calling Latinos "LatinX" even though all polling shows that they fucking hate it. They're still doing nothing about illegal aliens coming in and LEGAL Latino citizens fucking hate it. That $450,000 per illegal alien child separated at the border during the Trump administration? Yeah... They fucking hate that too.

All polling now is showing that the Latino vote is split 50/50 between Republicans and Democrats now, and has been trending that way since before Trump won in 2016. This isn't just bad news for Democrats today and in November, but it's doom for Democrats' entire future since they've been banking on the "fact" that they'd always get the Latino vote.

More blacks vote anti-Democrat nearly every election cycle.

And keep lying about CRT not being in schools and see where that gets you. It's leading to an (R) or (D) next to the name of every school position on the ballot in many states, which in current-era America is not a bad thing.

All you racist, sexist, cultist Democrats are going to have left on your side in a decade is rich white folk.

Congratulations. You will have finally become everything you supposedly hated when that happens.

November is going to be a bloodbath. And Trump has nothing to do with it.
