You DREAD becoming an Oscar-winning director whose films have influenced the course of debate in the world's most powerful, if least sensible, nation? That strikes me as odd. The messenger getting in the way of the message is traditional. Marx's haute bourgeois lifestyle got in the way of his message so it's been completely ignored by his many followers over the years.
Be glad you have opinions strong enough not be containable. I certainly am.

Could the reason TGJ and Static are sitting so close together be because they are in the same closet? Hmmmm. Interesting. They'll probably get barbeque sauce all over the clothing hanging in there.

Hi Static, thank you for posting a very nice review of Firefly by a well known author OSC. His Enders Game is an outstanding read.
Thread Hijack...Hi Annie. Johnson's Big Apple sounds great.
Posted over on the Fox OB.
>>BTW, I know Adam Baldwin's political, but I've never read any of his political posts. Could someone point me in that direction? Is he left or right?<<
Reginaroadie.. Why Adam is always in the right of course...;-)
Go Here...He posts mainly on the political threads.
He is a well read and very intelligent and articulate man with a Heart of gold. He is tolerant of others views but is very passionate about his own. Besides he is a BDH.

Well, on so many issues, I agree with Michael Moore (gun control, Iraq, unfair treatment of certain groups, etc, etc) and yet when I see him going on about these issues or when I read his books, I just get annoyed at him. It's odd because I used to love his old stuff, like TV Nation but nowadays... Maybe it was his support for Nader that handed Bush the election.
I guess what I mean is I'd like to be somebody who can calmly and rationally change other people's minds. I don't want to be an extremist that ends up preaching to the choir with his own twisted personal philosophies (I don't want to be that other Oscar winning director either).
Although I'd gladly accept either of their bank accounts.

STATIC.
I have'nt looked at the original thread and if it's as scarily hijacked as it seems I dont think I will. I have said on other threads how much I was disturbed by the way every topic seemed to be turning into an argument and considered deleting this site from my favourites and just walking away. However, the way this thread has turned the problem on it's head by the use of some excellent good humour has given me a new hope (and not in a Starwars way).
The political threads especially have been making me very, very angry but now i think maybe if i throw some humour into thier vitriol it might make some of the people step back and realise just how ridiculous they look to the rest of us.
So if your reading through a particularly nasty thread and suddenly see something that makes you laugh out loud, that will be me.

Day you learn how to do that, my friend, you should please email me and let me know how it's done. I've recently been fired because I am just too gorram honest and not quiet enough to please my corporate masters, in spite of what they acknowledged was "very profitable" performance over the years.
So that secret, you could maybe share with me..?

Actually, I came out of the closet several years ago. I was kinda disappointed, though. Turns out I was straight the whole time.

Wrong!
The next line is;
I sleep all night and I work all day.
Chorus: He's a lumberjack and he's okay,
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch,
I go to the lavatory.
On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea.
As for how I knew this, in the words of Warren Zevon; I don't wanna talk about it.
The more I get to know people the more I like my dogs.
