6ix does use a powerful tactic to handle inflation. If 6ix does not buy then the price setting cheaters in the inflation game can't trick 6ix out of money. The tactic has built-in disadvantages, but the tactic is very straight forward in execution. In Firefly, the crew avoids price inflation by not buying. Instead, the crew steals, which is never straight forward in execution and has its own built-in disadvantages as a tactic for winning the money game and beating inflation.
