Former White House official reveals she sent 'people are going to die' Jan. 6 text to Meadows

"That is my text," Farah said, adding that she made a "horrifying" realization that the text message was sent "about an hour before Ashli Babbitt died, and it was a few hours before we learned that officer Brian Sicknick died. There was a window where people of good conscience could have spoken up and stopped the violence," she said.

For rich, important people, the law in America doesn't work efficiently as it does with poorer criminals. In 1804, Vice President Aaron Burr killed Alexander Hamilton, but Burr was not charged in New Jersey, where he shot Hamilton, and Burr was not charged in New York, where Hamilton died. Burr never went to trial. You would think that the kinks would have been ironed out of the legal system in the last two hundred years, but the legal system still doesn't work worth a damn for people like Burr or Trump. Trump has not yet paid the taxes he has owed for 20 years and it looks like his lawyers will be able to keep the legal system in gridlock for another 20 years. By then, Trump will be dead and the statute of limitations means he couldn't go on trial for tax cheating even if alive.

By the way, Vice President Burr wasn't done being a criminal. Burr plotted with James Wilkinson, commander of the U.S. Army, to seize the Louisiana Territory and establish an independent empire. In the fall of 1806, Burr led a group of well-armed colonists toward New Orleans, prompting an immediate U.S. investigation. General Wilkinson, in an effort to save himself, turned against Burr and sent dispatches to Washington accusing Burr of treason. In February 1807, Burr was arrested in Louisiana for treason and sent to Virginia to be tried in a U.S. court. In September, he was acquitted on a technicality. That is how the system has always worked for people with connections in high places or the best lawyers money can buy.

The Taliban in Afghanistan? Now THAT'S a coup!

Jan 6? No planes, no tanks, no rockets or mortars, not even any guns. It was a riot at worst by people who brought staves - aka flags (but no flambeaux or pitchforks). And do people die in riots? Yes they do! Even 'mostly peaceful' ones! But people dying does not an 'insurrection' make. Or every riot would be called an 'insurrection', even the 'mostly peaceful' ones.

It was a coup. Democrats (with Mike Pence as their co-conspirator) overthrow Trump for Biden* :

There is another kind of coup:

Latin America has a history of autogolpes, or “self-coups.” This is the term for efforts by sitting executives to enhance or retain power by overturning electoral outcomes or by unconstitutionally gutting the power of other branches of government. Trump’s measures to overturn the elections since November 3 constitute a “coup,” as they involve illegal usurpation of state power, even when it may not involve the use of force. Yet it is a “self”-coup because it is perpetrated by the head of government rather than military officers or others against that chief executive.

There was no coup. There was no insurrection.

Trump’s behavior constitutes a self-coup since he has sought to undermine the integrity of the November 3 election and has sought to overturn the results of an election. He urged voters to illegally vote twice; he sought to disenfranchise voters; he sought to coerce officials to alter the vote results.

Mitch McConnell will explain Jan 6th to you, 1kiki:

Did Trump himself ... dissolve Congress? Kidnap the Supreme Court? Invoke the military?

Your article is deficient in links for its claims.

I want to see facts about what TRUMP did. Not unsubstantiated bullshit about unnamed 'thems'.

Let me post what Mitch McConnell wrote because you obviously didn't click the link:

February 13, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) delivered the following remarks today on the Senate floor regarding the impeachment trial:

“January 6th was a disgrace.

“American citizens attacked their own government. They used terrorism to try to stop a specific piece of democratic business they did not like.

“Fellow Americans beat and bloodied our own police. They stormed the Senate floor. They tried to hunt down the Speaker of the House. They built a gallows and chanted about murdering the Vice President.

“They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on Earth — because he was angry he’d lost an election.

***

“Former President Trump’s actions preceding the riot were a disgraceful dereliction of duty.

“The House accused the former President of, quote, ‘incitement.’ That is a specific term from the criminal law.

“Let me put that to the side for one moment and reiterate something I said weeks ago: There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.

“The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their President.

“And their having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories, and reckless hyperbole which the defeated President kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth.

“The issue is not only the President’s intemperate language on January 6th.

“It is not just his endorsement of remarks in which an associate urged ‘trial by combat.’

“It was also the entire manufactured atmosphere of looming catastrophe; the increasingly wild myths about a reverse landslide election that was being stolen in some secret coup by our now-President.

“I defended the President’s right to bring any complaints to our legal system. The legal system spoke. The Electoral College spoke. As I stood up and said clearly at the time, the election was settled.

“But that reality just opened a new chapter of even wilder and more unfounded claims.

“The leader of the free world cannot spend weeks thundering that shadowy forces are stealing our country and then feign surprise when people believe him and do reckless things.

“Sadly, many politicians sometimes make overheated comments or use metaphors that unhinged listeners might take literally.

“This was different.

“This was an intensifying crescendo of conspiracy theories, orchestrated by an outgoing president who seemed determined to either overturn the voters’ decision or else torch our institutions on the way out.

***

“The unconscionable behavior did not end when the violence began.

“Whatever our ex-President claims he thought might happen that day… whatever reaction he says he meant to produce… by that afternoon, he was watching the same live television as the rest of the world.

“A mob was assaulting the Capitol in his name. These criminals were carrying his banners, hanging his flags, and screaming their loyalty to him.

“It was obvious that only President Trump could end this.

“Former aides publicly begged him to do so. Loyal allies frantically called the Administration.

“But the President did not act swiftly. He did not do his job. He didn’t take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed, and order restored.

“Instead, according to public reports, he watched television happily as the chaos unfolded. He kept pressing his scheme to overturn the election!

“Even after it was clear to any reasonable observer that Vice President Pence was in
