ETA: As for "having the option to censor swastikas, I'm actually all for that. More power to them.
Games and the technology that have run them have come so far you can pretty much do whatever you want with them now. Having Nazis as cannon fodder in your game with and without swastikas is just a matter of putting a different "skin" over the 3D model coded beneath.
Stuff like this is, after all, a large part of how many Pay to Play games make their money off of micro=transactions. If you want the cool new outfit for your characters that all your friends have, you need to get Mom's credit card and pay $3.99 for it. (It isn't actually worth anything since it's not real clothes, and the amount of money they end up making off of these cosmetic changes are many thousands of times the money that went into creating them).
Options are fine with me. On everything. Even the option to censor or water-down your own experiences.
If some soccer mom Karen or some pink haired weirdo man hating lesbian doesn't want her avatar kicking ass with her tig old bittys bouncing all around and 20 lbs of ass with a thong bikini up the crack, but some 40 year old dude living in mom's basement does, let them all have the option to do whatever they want to do.
You could even transition these filters very easily into online gaming so the person who doesn't want to see swastikas won't see any of them on any of the remote players, but the one who does will see them on all of the remote players who are the Nazis.
Stop censoring shit.
Let people play the game they want to. Not the game YOU want them to play.

honestly I missed Gamergate that's why sometimes I try and catch up with this 'culture', I've been out of the gaming thing for years but I do pop in once in a while to see what is going on.
This whole Gamergate thing seems to have many people in the game community harshly divided...I played video games once but don't anymore, there are a bunch of online peole guys and girls I know, a bunch of engineering arty both single married divorced dude that meet up for 'cards' or gaming or whatever that I can meet up with but I don't, one group booze a lot, one group are stoners. I perhaps see it as a waste of time now, I don't know why I quit gaming it just got too intense, takes over peoples minds with the online thing and addiction element, once it went online and took credit cards I stopped playing. If I ever do play any racing, puzzling, fighting, strategy thing or shooter thing people are often shocked at how good I am at 'gaming' but the thing is once your learn some gaming it hasn't changed much in years, the pads and joysticks they are all the same its just each game and each software has it own unique gameplay or quriks or guns or interaction, once in a while I might play an old game or an emulator with retro or something but personally I avoid the games. If I'm bored and have free time I might paint or play guitar or read a book or watch someone do a game walk-through or speed run of some big hit but I've mostly been out of the Loop for years.
It seems to have little Middle Group, its a forced narrative, an extreme Team A vs another Team B debate, one side says yes she did sleep with people and even a guys dies suiciding with the whole thing
Another side says its a bunch of online losers, they are like incel extremists and harass some nice Feminist lady because of what some jilted ex says.

I was probably too young. When Clinton became President, I wasn't even in Jr. High yet. Afterward, I was an edgy teen and everything I liked was constantly trying to be shut down and censored by the Religious Right and the Satanic Panic.
Then, as I reached adulthood in the late 90's, the economy was great and I ended up dropping out of college the first time to work full time without distraction making over $55,000/yr. back when gas prices were under a buck more often than not.
Not being politically minded at all, I was probably pretty pro Democrat back in those early days. How much of that was media manipulation is impossible to say, although I'd say that it's much less than any kids going through school today are getting.
Of course, I didn't realize they how's and why's of the economy doing so good then and how it was unsustainable and built off of the strengthening of China that it has wrought today.
Politics didn't interest me in the slightest until I was in my mid-to-late 20's. I didn't even get registered to vote until 2004 to vote Not-Bush.
Now, in my 40's, I don't even think voting for President really matters. It's all of the offices below the President that really matter, stolen elections aside.
I'm one of less than 1,000 people who voted in an off-year local election that got the right people in to get the ball rolling on reducing our property taxes, and one of less than 200 people who voted in the referendum a few years later that resulted in a decrease over 2 years of about $300 per year on what were already far more reasonable property taxes than you'd find 30 miles west in Illinois.
That's the only two elections I ever voted in that I feel made any impact on my life. Both of them were off-year elections that almost nobody voted for. It's funny when you walk into the polling place during those times and you are immediately checked into the booth because there are more people working at the polling place than there are people voting.
Both parties are cancer. Democrats now are a Stage 4 brain tumor that needs to be removed.
And once the pendulum starts swinging back the other way, I don't suppose it will be too long before I'm saying the same thing about Republicans again.

Bring your family. Bring your friends. Get grandma out of the house. Make it an event and go out to dinner after you leave the polling place. It will only take a minute to do on off-year elections. You'll be in and out and eating good food with people you love in no time.
