In Alec Baldwin's defense, let's stop pretending that "Producer", Executive or otherwise means anything.

It never did before. It doesn't suddenly now.

Wow, that sucks.

Who's responsible for that, ultimately? The producer?

The responsible person in charge of overseeing the gun props, known as the armorer, is Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who could not be reached for comment. The 24-year-old is the daughter of veteran armorer Thell Reed and had recently completed her first film as the head armorer for the movie “The Old Way,” with Clint Howard and Nicolas Cage.

Yes, but there was another incident on set. Why no investigation? Why not institute a second pair of eyes? Why not fire or demote the armorer? Was this a case of rushing to stay on-schedule? Not ruffle the feelings of the daughter of an industry insider? What gives?
There should never have been a "second time" after the "first time".

This wasn't the second time. Nor the 3rd time. The report states that this was the 4th time. And the only time involving Baldwin.

And I am no fan of this Baldwin - he only ever put out one good film.

Probably the first three times are why the Safety Crew left the set in protest.

How does that armorer stay employed?
Same for that Dave Hall guy - even after the Brandon Lee death.

I don't know what kind of procedures they have for guns on a film set. I can imagine that the armorer is only responsible for managing the particular guns that are supposed to be used during filming. So if someone grabs a gun off the shelf - instead of going to the armorer for example - I could see how an accident like that could happen.

It really depends on what was supposed to be done compared to what was done.

Anyway, this seems like a tragic but meaningless tidbit not worth pursuing except for nosy interest, unless one is using it to grind an ax.

About Baldwin ... or Hollywood ... or women ... or name your shifting issue de jour.

I think the media is using it as a distraction for all the bad shit happening right now.

They wouldn't have talked about it more than half a day if the actor/actress that fired the gun didn't talk politics all the time.

You don't even own a gun, but you want the right to be asshole: The gun that killed “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins last Thursday was used by crew members that morning for live-ammunition target practice, an individual with knowledge of the set told TheWrap. A number of crew members had taken prop guns from the New Mexico set of the indie Western — including the gun that killed Hutchins — to go “plinking,” a hobby in which people shoot at beer cans with live ammunition to pass the time, the insider said. The shooting happened just a few hours later.

The media needs to find out who those beer can shooting crew members are. Since the crew behaved like assholes, the media should ask them who they voted for. The only guys I know who shoot at beer cans AND are irresponsible are Trumptards.

Background checks for gun sales in the U.S. hit an all-time high of 21 million in 2020, according to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the trade group for the firearms industry. NSSF, whose research is based on government data, doesn’t track actual sales, but said the background-check figure is a reliable measure of such.

And while the NSSF doesn’t expect the 2020 number to be surpassed in 2021, it says sales are continuing at a strong pace — with 13.7 million background checks recorded through the end of September 2021. That already puts the 2021 year-to-date figure ahead of the entire of 2019.

The continuing sales surge speaks to societal fears brought upon by the pandemic and the civil unrest of last year, NSSF spokesman Mark Oliva said.

“There’s still a lot of concern for personal safety,” he said.

Oliva believes that sales have also remained strong this year in part because first-time gun buyers are likely opting to purchase another firearm as they become more comfortable and familiar with gun ownership. He noted there were 8.4 million first-time buyers in the U.S. last year.

Another factor that Oliva and others cite behind the sales surge: the election of Joe Biden, a Democrat who has been a gun-control advocate and talked about the need for legislation to keep the firearms industry in check. Given the concern among some people that their ability to buy a gun in the future may be limited, they are making those purchases now, Oliva said.

You're a fucking idiot, Second.

Do a Google Search with a custom range before 2021 and you'll find a ton of articles explaining to you what a prop gun is and why you can't fire live ammunition out of them unless you convert them first.

Nobody was out plinking beer cans with a prop gun before the incident.

6ix, real guns are far cheaper than so-called "prop guns" especially built to look authentic without functioning. This low-budget movie used real guns to save money.

Veteran prop master turned down ‘Rust’ film: ‘An accident waiting to happen’

During four days of informal discussions with film managers, Zoromski said he got a “bad feeling.” “There were massive red flags,” he said in an interview Sunday with The Times.

He said he felt that “Rust” was too much of a slapdash production, one with an overriding focus on saving money instead of a concern for people’s safety. Production managers didn’t seem to value experience and were brushing off his questions, he said.

Zoromski ultimately told “Rust” production managers that he would take a pass.

“After I pressed ‘send’ on that last email, I felt, in the pit of my stomach: ‘That is an accident waiting to happen,’” he said.

Once again, you're full of shit.

You need to stop reading what the media is telling you in the last week.

Prop guns have been around for a long time. The film industry has been using prop guns of all types for many years. Blank guns were more common back-in-the-day but have been changed out for the replica mechanical or gas blowback airsoft types because of safety concerns.

Feel free to get yourself one if you want to see one for yourself. They are generally cheaper and are not regulated the way normal firearms are. Just be careful where you take it. Most people will not realize that it is a prop gun and not a real gun. The police will not know either.

I'm talking about money and you are talking just be running your mouth. 6ix, you know nothing about the price of guns, prop or real, and never owned weapons. You're badmouthing Baldwin because he made Trump look foolish on Saturday Night Live. Trump was angry, so 6ix is angry, and so is Jr.
