Former FBI Deputy Dir Andrew McCabe strikes deal to retain pension, benefits after politically-charged dismissal
Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe struck a settlement with the Justice Department that restores his pension and other benefits after he was fired by the Trump administration in 2018, just hours before he was set to retire.
As part of the settlement, Justice also agreed to pay more than $500,000 to satisfy "all attorney's fees, costs, and expenses."
McCabe's initial 2019 lawsuit accused Justice Department officials of unjustly demoting and then terminating him to cater to then-President Donald Trump's "unlawful whims."
Too bad Trump. You lose again. McCabe is laughing all the way to the bank.

Last week, the Office of Special Counsel released a report finding that 13 senior Trump administration officials violated the Hatch Act, a statute prohibiting federal officials from using their positions to influence the outcome of partisan elections.
In August, 2020, we filed a Hatch Act complaint with that office against Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for, among other things, using a diplomatic mission to Jerusalem to broadcast a speech to the Republican National Convention in which he advocated for the reelection of President Donald Trump. The recent OSC report affirms the analysis in our complaint and finds that Pompeo did indeed violate the Hatch Act.
