Would make more sense to censor transactions but make you have to use their payment system instead of bailing on it.

The first time I was aware of credit card companies disallowing purchases was back in the day when they started blocking people in the states from buying cigarettes from outside of the country. It was 5 times cheaper to buy a few cartons and have them shipped halfway around the world than it was to buy them in your neighborhood because of the taxes. The second time this happened was for a while there when they shut down any tobacco sales online, period. (They have allowed them for years again now, but back in the early late 00's they shut it all down).
But the idea that a credit card provider could just revoke your entire credit line and the ability to use it because of your opinion is pretty fuckin' scary in an age where they're increasingly trying to push everyone to use credit instead of cash.
