I think I've done a pretty good job outlining how the media fudged COVID-19 facts to deliver the narrative de jour, even when it had to backtrack and reverse itself multiple times.
I HOPE that, with all the specific examples I gave relatively fresh in his memory, JO will realize that just because the government or the m$m or Maddow (same thing) says so, doesn't make it so. And that he understands one needs to consume the media carefully, and to look to a wide variety of sources and countries, and to pay attention to how the story is being altered all the time; and try to sift out the hype from the truth.
There is some truth in there. But you have to work at finding it.

What really needs to happen is people need to take some damn fish oil vitamin supplements on the reg and hope that their terrible diets haven't already fried their brains permanently.
Nobody can remember what they were being told two weeks ago on any given day. It's why people are so easy to lead around.
And those fucking "smart" phones aren't helping anybody out except for the people pulling the strings.
It's just too easy to give up critical thinking and let a quick google search bring you to whatever Snopes and/or Wikipedia is telling you is the truth today.

I think, while people give too much credence when the beliefs of 'their side' are being presented by the media, even guppies learn over time.

This month, 21% of those answering Gallup questions said they had a lot of confidence in newspapers. Only 16% say the same thing of TV news. Congress comes in at 12%.
Finland citizens were confident enough. They lead the world in trust in their media with 65%. The last-place finisher worldwide was none other than the United States of America. Only 29% of “news consumers” in this country said they trusted the media. Finishing last means the U.S.A. trailed countries like Turkey, Colombia and Peru.

You'd think that would be good news...
But it depends on how the questions were worded, what order the questions were asked, and if they were altered a bit based off of how the earlier questions were asked.
It would be very easy to get those results, say, if you were to ask early on if you consider yourself a Democrat or a Republican and then follow that up with a later question asking if you trust Fox News or CNN, respectively.
Only about 2% of the adult population is watching either of them at any given time. But I'd say that 100% of the people who watch Fox News trust Fox News and 100% of the people who watch CNN trust CNN.
Just look around here and consider JSF vs. Second, Ted and JO.
They all believe whatever their respective outlets tell them at any given time, no questions asked. No brain power exerted.
And Ted is a complete idiot, with JO probably being a genius and Second falling somewhere in between. It's not just the stupid people who are responsible for this. Even really smart people love shutting off the ole' noggin once in a while and letting other people do the thinking for them.
What better place to let your brain take much needed vacation from the everyday stresses of life than your very own echo chamber that you've wrapped around yourself like a warm blanket.
