The US did not fail in Afghanistan. Afghanistan failed itself. For twenty years we’ve supported them as they’ve determined who they are going to be. We’ve maintained the peace while they do so. They are still struggling amongst themselves to answer that question which is regrettable.
Being there didn’t destroy our economy like it did Russia. We are not turning tail and running. We have determined our own fate while there and proved ourselves dominant. It is just that it is time to leave. Afghanistan is a radical entity bathed in religion with a large dose of stupid. I hope they find their way into the twenty first century.
That said, we'll be right next door.
