Not only would that reduce OUR immediate greenhouse gas emissions, other nations could throttle back on THEIR defensive postures, and all the emissions from military manufacturing would also be nearly-eliminated.
Biden*, of course, will do no such thing. He will make the USA population pay for the military's profligate waste of fuel, materiel, and money, of course.

It's difficult to compare land forces to land forces bc they're not broken out separately. The Russian Navy is rather small, as is it's airforce. The problem with the USA and NATO is that it's forces are spread across much of the globe, while Russia's and China's are concentrated defensively, for the most part, within their own respective borders, so considering their respective "near abroads" (Ukraine, Taiwan) Russia and China would probably have the numeric advantage in a conventional ground war.

Apparently, Russia got the response it was looking for: Zelenskiy and Biden* each begging for a summit meeting.
Putin has been pushing for a political settlement according to the Minsk accords (signed by Ukraine,France, and Germany (NOT Russia, so the next time you read about Russia "not implementing" the Minsk accords please be aware that it's not in Russia's power to implement something it's not a party to) which UKRAINE refuses to implement, bc it involves direct negotiations with DPR/LPR.
But in reality I think this was all about Nordstream2. Merkel's most recent speech (a couple of days ago) was still supporting it.
We shall see what happens.
