And then Trump tapped the same vein, pointing out the obvious FAKE NEWS that all reasonable folk had been noticing, and he bypassed the MSM. Have you noticed that Marcos didn't completely lose his mind and start telling people to kill themselves everyday until AFTER Biden* was sworn in?

I did.

His first time was on 1/23 of this year. By the end of January, he'd already done it 11 times. An average of once per day after Biden* was inaugurated.

It's been four years now of him being awful, or at least that I know of after I sobered up, but aside from some criminals who pulled some dumb shit in DC, the other 70 million people who voted for Trump aren't doing what he KNEW they were going to do, and we're not entertaining him like he thought he was going to be entertained when Trump was out.

He hates the fact that I'm not behaving like he did for the entirety of the previous administration, so he's losing his mind now.

Eventually he will grow bored and direct that anger and hate somewhere else.

In the mean time, all I'm going to do is tune out of politics as much as possible and laugh when he realizes he isn't going to get anything he thought he voted for and laugh twice as hard while watching him and Nilly and whoever else wants to come in here and say a bunch of dumb hateful shit. They really are quite amusing.

Consider that, according to the Brookings Institution, Biden won 509 counties to Trump’s 2,547—that’s over five times as many going to Trump. But here’s the kicker. Biden’s counties constitute 71 percent of the country’s GDP. Trump’s is less than 30 percent. Surely we must somehow factor this into how we think about why people vote the way they do? How does growth, or the lack thereof, determine elections?

Democrats and Republicans can’t compromise because their economic models are antithetical to each other and the middle means death. For almost half of U.S. states, the Green New Deal, which is—sotto voce—at the center of Biden’s platform, spells the end of their existing strategies—think fracking, refining, plastics, mining, logging, and so on. And for the other half of the states that support the Green New Deal, scaling back its objectives to attract support from the carbon coalition threatens the post-carbon coastal communities. Will Silicon Valley and Wall Street remain above water at 2 degrees Celsius global warming? There is simply no way to build a centrist coalition across this divide.

There is only one way to fix this mess. The post-carbon coalition has to bribe Republicans to make the carbon transition. Non-coastal, largely Republican states must be the epicenter of the green transition and be the recipients of most of the investment. After all, they have the most assets to turn around and the most to lose if they are not compensated. If all they are offered is “you decarbonize/we keep the money,” then all they will give back is more Trumpism.

There are clear parallels in U.S. history, such as the massive bribe that the urban sector began paying to farmers in 1933 with the Agricultural Adjustment Act and two generations of generous farm bills thereafter. Yet the bribe this time must involve more than a subsidy; it requires exiting the carbon economy. For it to work, green investment must extend well beyond energy capture (solar and wind farms) and downstream into industries that are powered by alternatives. Massive investments in electric vehicle production, for instance, to support a rapid turnover of the U.S. motor vehicle fleet with U.S.-built cars and trucks, are required.

The Supreme Court is still sitting on Trump’s tax returns, and justices aren’t saying why

Lawsuits involving Donald Trump tore apart the Supreme Court while he was president, and the justices apparently remain riven by him.

For nearly four months, the court has refused to act on emergency filings related to a Manhattan grand jury’s subpoena of Trump tax returns, effectively thwarting part of the investigation.

The Supreme Court’s inaction marks an extraordinary departure from its usual practice of timely responses when the justices are asked to block a lower court decision on an emergency basis and has spurred questions about what is happening behind the scenes.

Chief Justice John Roberts, based on his past pattern, may be trying to appease dueling factions among the nine justices, to avoid an order that reinforces a look of partisan politics. Yet paradoxically, the unexplained delay smacks of politics and appears to ensnarl the justices even more in the controversies of Trump.
