Fox News Is Destroying America

Lots of studies have demonstrated the power of Fox News. For example, here's one from June of 2020 showing that in places where Fox News is easier to get (by having a lower position on the cable dial), more people ignored advice about staying at home and wearing masks in the early stages of COVID-19. This was the period in mid-March when Fox News was telling everyone that the pandemic was nothing to worry about. https://ideas.repec.org/p/osf/socarx/abqe5.html

Future studies will undoubtedly find that in places where Fox News is more widely available, more people also believed that the 2020 election had been stolen. Nick Kristof gets it:

Fox helped sell Trump’s lie about a stolen election, propelling true believers like Ashli Babbitt — a fan of Fox personalities like Tucker Carlson — to storm the Capitol. Babbitt died in the attack, while this week Fox Corporation merrily reported a 17 percent jump in quarterly earnings.

....We can’t impeach Fox or put Carlson or Sean Hannity on trial in the Senate.

Fox News is the reason why rank-and-file Republicans believe in stuff like stolen elections and socialists coming to take over America. They believe it because they hear it over and over and over from folks on TV who wear suits and ties and act like news anchors. When Trump said the same things as FOX, he was wearing a suit and tie and had a more lofty position of authority than a FOX News personality.

So?
MSNBC, WaPo, NYT, CNN, etc pushed the "Russian collusion" lie for more than three years. I conclude that it's not good to believe ANY media, but do you due diligence about current events.

Also, Fox News isn't necessarily wrong about the election. Until it's been audited throughly, we'll never know. But the data is suspiciously weird.

Fox News is no worse than CNN or MSNBC. All any of them do is speak to cultists in between selling Car Insurance and Reverse Mortgages.

As for the 2020 Election, let me know when that audit is completed, the one that 1kiki and you are constantly talking about. Also tell me when it gets started, because I haven't heard about the start.

The Russian thingy was about Russian interference in the 2016 election, but Trump made it into a thingy about himself because he is a nutjob. By the way, Signym, here are four things Trump never grasped, ranked from most important to least important:

1) Rod Rosenstein appointed Mueller to do a “full and thorough investigation of the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election”.
https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3726408/Rosenstein-letter-a
ppointing-Mueller-special.pdf

2) The Senate found that Russia interfered.

3) Mueller found that Russia interfered: “The Internet Research Agency (IRA) carried out the earliest Russian interference operations identified by the investigation—a social media campaign designed to provoke and amplify political and social discord in the United States. The IRA was based in St. Petersburg. Russia, and received funding from Russian oligarch Yevgeniy Prigozhin and companies he controlled. Prigozhin is widely reported to have ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”

“At the same time that the IRA operation began to focus on supporting candidate Trump in early 2016. the Russian government employed a second form of interference: cyber intrusions (hacking) and releases of hacked materials damaging to the Clinton Campaign. The Russian intelligence service known as the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Army (GRU) carried out these operations.”

4) Trump interfered with the investigation of Russia. Mueller’s Volume 2 said: “Our obstruction-of-justice inquiry focused on a series of actions by the President that related to the Russian-interference investigations, including the President’s conduct towards the law enforcement officials overseeing the investigations and the witnesses to relevant events.”

Trump's pathology infects the millions who follow him -- and this narcissistic symbiosis could grow even worse

We warned of an authoritarian cult of personality and growing contempt for the rule of law, which would spread throughout the culture unless stopped. Donald Trump's presidency was dangerous not because of his individual afflictions but his capacity, as president, to amplify and exacerbate society's defects, especially if he faced no accountability.

To the end of his presidency, he was not contained or held accountable. The American Psychiatric Association advanced a perverse version of "the Goldwater rule" to silence expert alarms, the way the Department of Justice revived a controversial internal Office of the Legal Counsel memo to place a president above the law. As a result, Donald Trump may have left the office of the presidency, but "Trumpism" not only continues but flourishes. As the House managers in the impeachment trial have reminded us with their effective use of videos of the Capitol insurrection, the Trump infection, once spread, manifests in deadly, violent behavior.

Then you should stop blathering about how the election was proven to be valid.

Huh. And the surveillance of Flynn, Papadoupolis, Carter Page, AND TRUMP (and his family) WEREN'T about Trump?

The "dossier" WASN'T "about Trump?

Why didn't anyone talk to Assange? HE knew where the emails came from!

And if the FBI, CIA, MI6, NSA, and DOJ (Mueller) couldn't - between the five of them - couldn't scrape together enough evidence to take to trial the one Russian company that they indicted, I'd say their "investigation" was a shabby one and focused elsewhere.

Signym, you have not stopped playing games about Russia Interference with the 2016 election. You won't admit it happened. Trump won't admit it either. Trump won't even concede that he lost in 2020, presumably because he is waiting for what hasn't been started -- an audit of the 2020 election. But one audit is complete:

Final Report on Russian Interference in 2016 Elections ( August 18, 2020, 4 years too late)

I'm sure Trump would have been willing to serve until the audit of the 2020 election was finished. If that audit was as slow to finish, Trump would serve 4 more years before Signym's preferred auditor validated who the winner was in 2020.

The cognitive dissonance on display here would be astounding if I didn't expose myself to it every day here in the RWED.

That being said... *yawn*

The irony.^ This alkie troll with brain damage is too stupid to see it. His ignorance is caused by his malfunctioning brain, but he loves being stupid, and he's great at it. No knowledge of politics OR history.
