SIGNY: I heard the words PEACEFULLY and PATRIOTICALLY.
Didn't you?
Or is something wrong with your hearing?

Because when someone calls for a PEACEFUL and PATRIOTIC demonstration, that doesn't sound like a call to insurrection to me.
SECOND: Signym, I don't think you read: Trump ‘Save America Rally’ speech transcript from 6 January: The words that got the president impeached

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election-2020/trump-speec
h-6-january-transcript-impeachment-b1786924.html

Not only did you NOT read the transcript, SECOND, you didn't even read your own link. (Not the first time you've made that "mistake".)

From the article that you linked

Quote:

Democrats point to Mr Trump's explicit call to supporters to "walk down to the Capitol":

"Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. After this, we’re going to walk down and I’ll be there with you. We’re going to walk down. We’re going to walk down, any one you want, but I think right here. We’re going walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. . We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong."

Republicans point to the next sentence that explicitly calls for supporters to march to the Capitol building to "peacefully and patriotically" make their voices heard

Since when is "walking down to the Capitol" a crime? Is cheering a crime? Is "peacefully and patriotically" making your voice heard insurrection?

If that was the case, then we could throw every peaceful demonstrator in jail for SECOND's fictitious interpretation of the law.

Did Trump tell people to break into the building? Or even walk thru an open door?

There's a difference between "to" and "into". Since you don't get that, you fail basic English. Are you SURE you're American?

It is simple: Trump said he won the election, but 50 states and 60 court cases say he did not. Yet he keeps insisting his White House was stolen (You've heard of it: "Stop the Steal") and he must recover his place. He repeats this falsehood frequently. His voters, the ones who believe his falsehood, intend to recover the stolen property for him. This recovery has already killed several people. It will kill more. Scientific American covered all this craziness in an article "The ‘Shared Psychosis’ of Donald Trump and His Loyalists".

What YOU THINK people "intended" is conjecture. Some of them may have been provocateurs. Some of them may have been carried away with the moment, like b that little old lady with the American flag.

Even if true, is Trump responsible for somebody's intentions? ESPECIALLY IF HE HAS GIVEN THEM EXPLICIT INSTRUCTIONS OTHERWISE?

You're working mighty hard to make this into something it wasn't. And as far as I'm concerned, you're the deluded one.

Did you miss the part about Trump saying the election was stolen? He says it all day. People who voted for Trump have killed to recover what was stolen from Trump.

Trump is exactly the same as this crazy lady accusing somebody of stealing a phone that wasn't stolen: Police arrest L.A.-area woman who falsely accused Black teen of stealing her phone at NYC hotel; lawyer says she’s ’emotionally unwell’

Miya Ponsetto’s apology interview for attacking teen over a lost phone reveals a pattern of behavior
https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/01/13/miya-ponsettos-apolog

Ponsetto attempted to capitalize on the one-mistake narrative in her recent interview with King. First, she described herself as “super sweet.” She framed the incident as a disconnect between intention and impact. She appealed to emotion by asking, “How would you feel if…?” She plugged “sincerely” and “bottom of my heart” into her apology. She reiterated her own false story of victimhood by accusing Harrold Sr. of assaulting her. Last, she tried to portray herself as a “22-year-old girl.” Not only did she try to draw on that portrayal in her speech, but she was also wearing a black cap emblazoned with “Daddy.” For those who know it refers to the sex advice podcast “Call Her Daddy,” the cap functions as a dog whistle for White women’s need for both freedom and male protection. For those not in the know, it functions as a dog whistle for pure White womanhood. Ponsetto was attempting to change the narrative about her behavior and her personhood.

She failed.

Ponsetto, who has been arrested and charged with assault, couldn’t have scripted her interview better to demonstrate a pattern of disrespecting Black life. She compounded her original assault by denying, blame-shifting and painting herself as a victim. Poor Trump. He too is a victim. His White House was stolen.

Republican lawmakers are accused of giving Capitol tours to insurrectionists before the riot as new inquiries are opened.
Federal agencies opened two new investigations into the extent to which Capitol Police and some lawmakers were complicit in the mob attack.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/13/us/politics/republicans-capitol-tou
rs.html

The inspector general of the Capitol Police is opening a potentially wide-ranging investigation into security breaches connected to the siege that could determine the extent to which some Capitol Police officers were involved, according to a senior congressional aide with direct knowledge of the investigation. The inspector general will suspend all other projects until the investigation is complete, the aide said.

Three officers have been suspended, and 17 others are under investigation by the force’s Office of Professional Responsibility.

The Government Accountability Office, a nonpartisan federal watchdog agency, has also signaled it will open an investigation that will include the roles that members of Congress may have played in inciting the mob seeking to overturn the results of the election, according to the congressman who requested the inquiry, Representative Jason Crow, Democrat of Colorado.

Trump's failure to act prosecution

The First Amendment does not protect Trump from liability for his failure to act once his rally speech set serious federal crimes in motion. The strongest case for both convicting Trump on the articles of impeachment in the Senate and for convicting him on criminal charges after he leaves office would be based primarily not on what he said at the pre-invasion rally but on what he failed to do after the insurrection began. The president cannot escape responsibility for failing to take decisive action for hours while his supporters invaded, vandalized, and terrorized the Capitol.

Criminal law does recognize liability for one’s omissions when one has a legal duty to act. For example, parents can be prosecuted for failing to protect their children because parents owe a duty of care to their children.

The president has a sworn duty to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, a duty that in this case required him to immediately and unequivocally discourage his most ardent supporters from committing insurrectionary crimes once he realized they were occurring. Trump’s violation of that duty by failing to act makes him an accomplice to those crimes if he intended by that omission to assist or encourage those crimes. A strong case already exists that the president wanted his supporters’ insurrectionary crimes to continue in order to change the result of the election or at the very least obstruct the certification of his defeat. Recent press reports suggest that even stronger evidence might come to light. That intent, coupled with his oath of office, makes him an accomplice to those crimes if his supporters were even slightly encouraged by his inaction.

We do not yet know much about what Trump said or did in the White House while the Capitol riot was ongoing, although some press reports suggest he was lobbying senators by phone to vote his way for the election results and delaying deploying resources to quell the insurrection. Facts already known make clear that he violated these duties of protection, however. His supporters invaded the Capitol shortly after 2 p.m. Trump did not ask his supporters to leave the Capitol until 4:17, more than two hours after they first overwhelmed the Capitol Police. His 4:17 p.m. video message also repeated many of the lies about the election that motivated their crimes in the first place, pouring more gasoline on a fire that he was supposedly asking people to extinguish.

Signy, it's like all those news stories that there was no ... something-or-other fraud when it came to the 2020 vote. The m$m was awfully shifty on the topic, and tried to pass it off as a blanket approval of the entire vote. The headlines screamed there was no votING fraud, election fraud, vote fraud ... but the stories themselves were about VOTER fraud, a very narrow and virtually irrelevant category when it comes to election rigging. And I literally NEVER saw a lead-in or read a headline that used the real term they were reporting about: VOTER fraud.

Anything to confuse the gullible, or, to provide cover for the intentionally misleading.

I agree with you. When it came to Jan 6, 2021, Trump never said anything they can QUOTE him on that was inflammatory. Giuliani did, Trump Jr did, and maybe others did, but Trump the President never did.

But since they can't QUOTE Trump, in extended quotes, they have to make things up.

BTW, they did the same thing with the Georgia phone call. They took an entire hour long phone conversation and condensed it down to 1 word in quotes: "find", as in:
"Trump heard on phone call urging Georgia officials to "find" enough votes ...",
"'We Won': Trump Pushes Georgia Secretary of State in Phone Call to 'Find'",
"Trump in phone call pleads with Georgia secretary of state to 'find' votes to overturn ..."
and so on.

The word "find" shows up a few times in the entire transcript.

Quote:

(Trump) a real check of the signatures going back in Fulton County you'll find at least a couple of hundred thousand of forged signatures of people

(Meadows) What I'm hopeful for is there some way that we can we can find some kind of agreement to look at this a little bit more fully.

(Meadows) and so Mr. Secretary, I was hopeful that, you know, in the spirit of cooperation and compromise is there something that we can at least have a discussion to look at some of these allegations to find a path forward

(Mitchell) Well, what did they find?

(Trump) And why can't we have professionals do it instead of rank amateurs who will never find anything and don't want to find anything? They don't want to find, you know, they don't want to find anything. Someday you'll tell me the reason why, because I don't understand your reasoning, but someday you'll tell me the reason why. But why don't you want to find?

(Trump) Why don't you want to find ... What?

(Trump) Here's the problem. We can go through signature verification and we'll find hundreds of thousands of signatures, if you let us do it. ... And you'll find that you have many different signatures. ... And you will find you will be at 11,779 within minutes ... But I think you're going to find that they — by the way, a little information, I think you're going to find that they are shredding ballots ... And you are going to find that they are (illegal ballots) ... And they are removing machinery and they're moving it as fast as they can, both of which are criminal finds ... I just want to find 11,780 votes ...

(Trump) Good. But if you find it you've got to say it, Ryan.

(Trump) ... I have to find 12,000 votes and I have them ...

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/03/politics/trump-brad-raffensperger-phone
-call-transcript/index.html

Nowhere does Trump tell anyone to "find" votes, and nowhere does he put an "or else" on anything. Trump always speaks of finding votes in the first person - I need to find votes, we need to find votes; or he describes what he claims will be found.

Technically speaking, Trump didn't "pressure" anyone to "do" anything.

Now, I know that there's going to be a lot of huffing and puffing from the mind-readers here. But they're just making things up, unsupported by any facts, like they always do.
