This is what I piece together. The person of interest was an older white man who - according to his neighbors - worked "in computers". Supposedly computer security.
The AT&T building was targeted.
Now, there ARE secret servers all across the USA ... spy hubs, used by the NSA ... sometimes attached to AT&T servers, and sometimes not. I read a very interesting story many years ago about one such server that was pointed out to a journalist that was in a very non-descript building in a second-tier city, one that you would never suspect was carrying surveillance content and encrypted top-secret messages, but there it was. As I recall, it was sussed out by someone who has a hobbyists interest in electrical power distribution.

...so if I had to take a guess as to what was going on and what this was all about, it was a group of liberal (in the old sense) anarchists ... or maybe people who thought they were patriots ... attacking the surveillance state. I believe this took more than one person to set up, and this was a suicide bombing to prevent interrogationand revelation of the other people in the group, and their methods and other potential targets.
Just a wild guess on my part.
Of course, the deep state has no reason to portray the bomber as anything other than Trump supporter ... or a Russian spy ... OR BOTH! A twofer!
I mean, WHY would they want to tell the truth? That there are servers all over the USA carrying illegal surveillance content, and this was one such center? And, of course, if there was any disruption of their illegal activity, would they cry openly about it?
So based on what I've read so far and what I know about surveillance networks, this might have been an attack on one such.
