Hey there Browncoats!

I would like to do a Fan Fiction Contest for you Fic writers out there.

But I will need a few others to agree to be judges, which means you must read all entries.

I would also like to know how many Fic writers would be interested in taking part.

There would be several categories:

Best Gerenal Fic (For fics that are episodic in nature)

Best Conventional Shipper Fic (Fics revolving around the con ships like Mal/Inara - Wash/Zoe - Simon/Kaylee)

Best Unconventional Shipper Fic (Fics revolving around HETERO ships like Jayne/Kaylee - Mal/Kaylee - Simon/Inara, etc,)

Best Slash Fic (Fics revolving around slash ships like (Mal/Jayne – Jayne/Simon – Kaylee/Inara, etc.)

Best In Character Fic (All entered fics will be put into this category)

Most Hi-Larious Fic (For the funny Stuff)

Best Character Fic (Fic Centered around a particular character)

Best Original Character Fic (Fic introducing and incorporating an brand new character)

Best Overall fic (All entered fics will be up for this)

Judge’s choice Fics (Each Judge picks their personal favorite)

All winners for each Category will receive an Award Graphic for display on their website (if they have one) or any other place the so desire as well as a Shiny Serenity Patch. (see picture below)

I would like to have a total of 5 judges, including myself.

So, if you would be interested in participating post and let me know.

Anyone who would like to be a judge (keep in mind that Judges can not enter) please e-mail me.

Once we have all of our judges and we have discussed particulars I will post the rules, judging criteria and deadlines.

Please don’t submit any fics to me until I have made the above post.

Will there be different categories for length? Best short filk, best "novel", etc.? :)

Hey Wiccanslyr,

I'd love to be a judge if you want. I'm reasonably educated, even did an MA in English Literature, and read vast amounts of text on a daily basis. I hope I'd be a good and fair judge.

I'm definitely interested in judging. My first fic is nowhere near being done, so I'd be happy to judge. I've been writing fics for years and I teach high school English. BA in English. I guess those work for credentials. Email me if you'd like me on the panel.

I'm interested in Judging too! I would love to do it.

As for experience...?? Well, I'm currently writing my first fanfic, which is an entry for a fanfic challenge, it's an Angel fanfic. Um, I'm doing A Level in Enlgish Language and Literature now, and I got a B in English Lanuage and an A* in English Lit in my GCSE's. And I've also read quite a few fanfics.

I'm definitely interested -- in the writing, that is. I fear my qualifications for judging are lacking by comparison with the other esteemed applicants for the positions. (I've only got a minor in creative writing.)

Are we talking about pieces that should be written specifically for this contest, or can we submit stuff that we've done within the past, say, month or so?

*waves* Hi wiccan....I think we know each other from the Jaynegang. Me, neroli, and cassieE did in fact coordinate the Strawberries - the blue sun fanfiction awards. Currently, am so too busy to attempt to do any judging or anything now, but if you want to give any of us an email or something to pick our brains and such, feel free. There's plenty of room for multiple awards and such...we don't plan to a second annual thing until after the movie (which will make it less than annual w/ the movie postponement, but hey, we work with what we have).

Oh...lemme know if you want this pimped on livejournal to get you more judges.

Kurukami: Any Fics that you have already written (no matter how long ago) will be welcome as well as any new ones that you decide to write from the contest. Also, I don’t have any fanciful degree(s) either so if you are interested in Judging feel free to drop me an e-mail. Just keep in mind that Judges won’t be allowed to enter any fics.

Jebbypal: :waves back: Hiya! I should like to pick your brain regarding the rules that you used. I want these awards to be well put together and I want the rules to be both sound and reasonable. So if you could e-mail me about this that you ROCK! Also Pimp away! I still need a couple more judges and DEFIANTLY want the word to get around to fic writers who might want to enter, because we can have judges until the cows come home but, without something to judge...
