Kamala Harris, while totally the expected choice, is the worst choice Biden could have made.
He's a racist dude, and because he has no filter he says racist things on accident all the time. He's an establishment Democrat, which is not going to play well at all with the 30 and younger Democrat crowd. He's been a tough-on-crime politician for decades, personally responsible for the imprisonment of tens of thousands of black men for non-violent drug possession charges.
Kamala Harris does nothing to counter-balance any one of those things. In fact, aside from the fact she's female and black, she offers nothing to the 30 and under Democrat crowd that would much rather be voting for Biden if Sanders were on the ticket. And Donald Trump has release a lot of the non-violent offender black men that Kamala Harris has put behind bars during her tough-on-crime past.
Kamala Harris as Biden's pick is just another nail in the Biden candidacy coffin.

A majority of the people who are too lazy (or don't care enough) to go to the booth to vote are going to be too lazy (or not care enough) to ever get around to filling one of them out.
Of those that do, nobody is going to be doing it the day, week or month they get it mailed to them, and it will sit under a pile of junk mail. The debates might be one of the things that remind them that they even got it.
The only people who are going to be rushing to mail out their ballots early are people who are already 1000% in support of Not-Trump. They weren't going to be swayed to vote the other way no matter how bad the debates go for Biden or even be so demoralized that they wouldn't have done so.
I don't imagine the mail in ballot is going to have the effect the Democrats are hoping it will. All it's going to do is add to the confusion and we might not know for a long time who actually won unless Trump wins by a landslide like I predicted long ago and still predict today.

Explanations for why a political system with free elections may evolve into a two-party system have been debated. A leading theory, referred to as Duverger's law, states that two parties are a natural result of a winner-take-all voting system.
Even the primary elections, where the politicians who will be Democratic candidates are selected, is a winner-take-all voting system, which would explain why the Democratic Party is the way it is. Minority opinions can't even be expressed within the Party because the people who have those opinions are filtered out and thrown away during the primary elections. Perhaps this is why Democrats are split into two parties, the left wing and the right wing Democrats, mirroring the national split between the GOP and the Democrats. The winner-take-all voting system in both primary and general elections doesn't allow third parties, with original ideas and better intentions, to take control of government.

I'm not much interested in his personality. I don't have any opinion. I'm interested in how things get done. And the way things get done is not by Biden having a religious conversion and saying, "Oh, we've got to really work on the climate." That's not what happened. The DNC probably hates the program, but they have no choice, because their popular base is not only demanding it, but is working constantly, hard, to force them to do it. That's politics. The pandemic is providing an opportunity for choices about what kind of world will emerge from it. Very different choices. Those who essentially created the crisis and have given us 40 years of the neoliberal assault on the global population are working very hard, relentlessly, to ensure that what emerges will be a harsher version of what created this system. Other forces, ranging from what you see in the streets in the United States to the environmental movement to DiEM25 in Europe. Many other popular forces are trying to move towards a very different world.

Are you talking about Abraham Lincoln's Republican Party, which regarded wage labor as different from slavery only in that it was temporary, because being dependent on another person is an intolerable attack on human rights and dignity? That's one America. The other America is the robber barons, the slave owners, the people who destroyed Tulsa when a Black community was successful.
In the 1980s, there were the Reaganites who wanted to devastate and destroy and murder and slaughter in central America, who supported Apartheid until the last second. That's one America. There's another America of the people who dedicated themselves to go help and support the victims of our atrocities.
There's the SNCC workers, and there's Bull Connor.
There's two different Americas. So which one do you want?
