The boomers siphoning off what's left of medicare and social security only payed a fraction into it what people working today pay into it, and we're told on our statements every year we'll be lucky to get 70% of the projected amounts we should.

I do hope you enjoy it, and do try not to take it for granted. It will be drastically reduced by the time your daughter's generation needs it, and GenZ isn't even going to have a safety net in their old age. Boomers completely ruined the economy.

All that aside...

It's insane that we're putting everybody else's lives on hold because of the chance that the oldest and the sickest among us might catch something.

Instead of shutting everything down and making completely healthy people wear masks with unconstitutional mandates that bypass the normal legislative process and threaten to fine or imprison those who won't abide, why not focus on the problem itself?

Make better masks and the old and sick people can wear them. And if you've damned an elderly relative to a petri dish of disease that is an old folks home, make sure that you mask up and wash your hands before visiting them.

I said early on that this was all a grand social experiment. I still think that this is true. And the psychological impact is going to be felt for generations to come if we don't stop this nonsense.

Imagine being a kid growing up in a world where they can't go to school like normal and need to maintain social distance of 6 feet and wear masks in public for years without any end in sight. That IS the future they have to look forward to if their parents don't start pushing back.

And when Trump wins, expect at least 4 more years of this craziness, perpetuated by the Legacy Media. My guess is that if Biden won they'd almost immediately stop talking about it.

Actually, you could say the same about MANY disabled people, who get checks from Social Security and benefits from Medicare regardless of age.

Your disabled brother ... does he get supported housing, and your state's version of Medicaid? Food stamps? A cash income? Much of that is Federal money flowing thru the state. FOR SURE he is getting more out of it than he put in. That's a problem too, innit?

No, "boomers" didn't ruin "the economy" because "government benefits" AREN'T "the economy". Or at least, they shouldn't be.

It was the ultra-elite who ruined the economy by offshoring and automating work and going all-in on finacialism instead.

What WAS ruined was the safety net, but boomers didn't ruin that either. They had a lot of help from politicians who set up the system to begin with. The design was flawed.

If there was a comparison between FDR and Herbert Hoover, FDR was the dummy, but FDR listened to the experts who told him how to drag America out of the Great Depression, while Hoover would not do what needed to be done. JACK, you really need to think logically.

OLD people aren't the problem when it comes to SS, Medicare/ Medicaid, food stamps etc, OR the environment (you failed to mention your favorite hobby horse) OR unemployment (another government benefit!) because - as you've noted - they're OLD. They're not going to have children and their time on this earth is limited anyway.

YOUNG people are going to do so much more damage in everything!

If you're really, REALLY focused on just making sure you get 'your' entitled future, you need to focus on young people, because they are going to bleed you and the planet dry.
