Oh. And do remember that for two to three weeks following George Floyd's death, they didn't even bring it up once.
They've got reelection to destroy here. They needed a few weeks to bastardize numbers in such a way that they could keep up with a narrative that was already failing hard and falling far short of the panic they were originally trying to instill. This was a great cover for that. It also cleansed the palette of the country and allowed all of the failed predictions to fall down the memory hole while new ones could be brought back to the table.
I originally called this a social experiment, back in the wee days of everything. I still hold that to be very true. Let's hope that I'm not wrong about this dying down after the election, because I don't think you want to see what starts happening if you keep alienating everyone from each other via lockdowns and masks and 6 feet rules for another year.
