I noticed that NONE of the major networks (except FOX) use the term "riots" unless they put it in quotes, preferring to use the terms "unrest" and "protests" instead. The only outlets that use the term "riots" are LOCAL NEWS and alt news. Now, I assume local news has a better view than the national outlets, and less spin.

If all I did was pay attention to the lamestream press, I would have NEVER known that there were riots in Portland!

I read the title and assumed it was JAYNEZTOWN or JSF posting because I took it completely opposite of what was intended: I AM worried about the Constitution because the people rioting on Portland obviously don't care for democracy, they intend mob rule. And the biased (unfree, corporate-controlled) media is helping them.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown says that federal officers and homeland security need to leave Portland and that their presence is only fanning the flames to violent protests.

“Let me be very, very clear, having federal troops on the streets of Portland does not solve the problem and in fact, it escalates the problem,” Brown said. “I was very clear with Secretary Wolf about that fact. This is pure politics; this isn’t about problem-solving.”

In recent weeks Brown has been overly outspoken about the protests that at times turn violent. She addressed that saying violence solves nothing.

“We should be focusing our time and energy on tackling the racism in our justice system, in our education system, in our healthcare system and the violence frankly distracts from that critically important work,” Brown said.

Back in the 1960's, there were 100 million Americans passionately against Communism. (Did I mention I was one of those who believed in anti-communism? It is a loony political belief passed from one Texan to the next, but I got over it. The actual Vietnam War cured me of that nonsensical belief.)

The politics of that fight against Communism did serious damage to America, but it was worse for the Vietnamese. Those same kind of Americans who wanted a fight with "communists", in some cases the very same Americans, now in their 70's, are passionately against "anarchists". This won't end well for America, with Trump, like Nixon, making living worse in Portland, instead of Vietnam.

Trump is attempting Nixon's 1972 election strategy, which worked beautifully to get Nixon reelected. It might not work for this election because Oregon is not Vietnam and Joe Biden is not George McGovern, 1972's Presidential candidate against the Vietnam War.

Looting, assaulting, killing was illegal in South Vietnam, but why did the President of the United States get involved when the elected government of Vietnam could have handled it? Because the President, Nixon, wanted to stick his nose into their business so that he could be reelected in Texas, for example, far from Vietnam. Trump is sticking his nose into Oregon to get himself reelected in Indiana. The Oregon governor has told Trump to leave, but he won't while there are voters to be persuaded in Indiana.
