Then the cops got called to my apartment for another party (we all knew each other by name at this point). After asking the most friendly of the bunch if he'd like to come in for a beer and obviously being declined, he said something like "you know the drill", and I reached for my wallet and then it dawned on me...

"Hey! You still have my license from last time!"

He flipped open his book and he sure did.

We got a good laugh out of that one.

Apparently it's not all rainbows and unicorn farts in CHAZ. Some residents have been posting about "screams of terror in the night" and theft being totally rampant bc police would not intervene for anything less than a "life threatening" incident.

Well, two murders later, the stupid Mayor of Seattle has decided to dismantle CHAZ. (too many links to cite, so here is one:)

What people may not have realized is that CHAZ (renamed CHOP to retain access to city services so they could suck off the government teat!) is NOT a creation of the residents, but was literally occupied by people from all over the country. I'm sure there are a lot of residents and businesses who won't be too sad to see it go.

That said, the plaintiffs want everyone to know that they support Black Lives Matter "who, by exercising such rights, are bringing issues such as systemic racism and unfair violence against African Americans by police to the forefront of the national consciousness."

In short, they support the movement - just not the harms they've suffered as a result of it.

Seattle's CHOP zone has officially concluded, according to the project's Twitter account.

In a tweet posted on Wednesday, June 24, the account @CHOPOfficialSEA said that there are less than two dozen people remaining near the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct and 11 more people near the Space Needle and numbers are expected to continue dropping.

"It is time we shift the next phase of our organizing and move from direct action to virtual activism," the message read in part.

The rehousing of the East Precinct will reportedly occur no later than early next week. Prior to which, barriers will be removed and streets in the Capitol Hill neighborhood will once again open to traffic.

I think the leadership got bored with camping out on the streets. Two weeks of camping will make most people long for the comforts of home. It was time to take a hot shower and rest on a soft bed rather than a sleeping bag on the ground. The Revolution is Over! Declare Victory and Leave!

It could have ended in a far worse way, if there were as many armed people as claimed. Thank goodness it ended peacefully, and no more lives were lost. I wonder how that all was negotiated.
