Yeah. That's what I thought I had heard about GoT, and also what I was picking up from your review of LOOP. I-Land certainly looked like a diverse cast, but at least from Mark's review that wasn't part of any of its many flaws (I mean, he didn't bring that up at all... But then again, he's not one of the channels on YouTube that makes any point of doing so).

As for the "woke" shows, I don't know if I would agree that they suffered from lazy writing. Bad writing, certainly, but probably not lazy. They worked very hard to press their agendas into the shows. Especially shows that were already established. I would imagine it takes a lot of work to destroy those shows with bad writing and to sacrifice any built up good will they had among their existing fan base to push an agenda.

I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong and it's lazy too. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't actually seen any of the woke bullshit. The last Star Wars property I watched was Episode II, and that was just bad and I tuned out by the time Episode III was released.

***I had a big crush on Kate Bosworth back in those days. I first saw her in Wonderland with Val Kilmer back in the early 2000's. She's the only reason I would have sat through a movie titled "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton". She was also a huge upgrade in the Looks Department to Lois Lane's character in Superman Returns over Margot Kidder. The last thing I ever saw her in before Mark's review of I-Land was Kevin Spacey's 21, where she still looked amazing.

Wanna talk lazy WOKE ass writing ?

Take the Disney SW sequels. First , Rey was an absolute nobody. We were told, that SHE was the daughter of low life parents, drunks, nobodies in the galaxy. It was meant to show that the true greatness of THE FORCE could fall on anyone, not just a precious few heralded blood lines, like royalty. If SHE could be special, anyone could!

Nope! WRONG! Turns out, Rey was the offspring ( in some laughably convoluted manner ) of the Sithiest Sith Lord of them all, Darth ' The Emperor ' Sidious.

This is the very definition of lazy writing!!

That was also a tale of far too many cooks in the kitchen.

Aside from the woke marketing and agendas inserted into the story, I'd just blame Disney for not giving two fucks about the franchise after buying it.

I think they worked pretty hard to destroy Star Wars. I don't think that was an easy thing to do.

Without a doubt, the most slow, depressing, joyless, and unclever sci fi I think I’ve ever witnessed. But perhaps the worst part about it was that Jodie Foster was involved. She directed this mess, and for the life of me I cannot understand what the point was. Slow, plodding , without any spark of humanity or enlightenment.

I don’t think there was one positive or uplifting twist, conclusion, or revelation in eight freaking episodes.

Just one long drawn out, slow pan or extended blank stare after another.

I’m gonna stay away from sharp objects for a couple of days, just in case I get any ideas.

Hey, The Expanse is as good ( if not better ) than any sci-fi as you'll find anywhere out there now. Hell, as good as anything ANYWHERE. That's Amazon.

And up until the last episode, Man in the High Castle was really damn good too.

To be honest, I would have expected far better from Jodie Foster. Maybe I'm just naïve like that.
