I think we had the last of any rain we're going to get for our rainy season (winter) so this will probably be the total for this season:

Still heading for rain on Wednesday according to the weather lady on the news. I guess it is good since we are experiencing one of the driest April's on record.

I had a large patch of "Bee's Bliss" groundcover sage that I decided to turn into a garden. So I've been lopping it off and pulling it out. I wasn't too worried about the bees, which LOVE these flowers in later winter/early spring, when nothing else is blooming. But now there are so many other flowers blooming the sage as a food source isn't that important to them. But I discovered, to my regret, that it was a marvellous ladybug habitat! Been tossing the ladybugs into my lima vines where I hope they'll find some aphids, but at some point I should re-make a ladybug-friendly area. All of the green stuff has been pulled up. Tomorrow I hope to bin it all up, and day following dig up the heaviest roots and bermuda grass. After that, torch the dirt and prep the soil with a compost pile that I started a few years ago. A lot of work ahead of me. But I'm sure not going to work Thursday thru next Wednesday because it will be too damn hot. So, indoor work.
I actually have a prepped kitchen garden spot, but nasturtiums have planted themselves in a riot of color and hubby and dd want to keep the flowers. I tried telling them that they'll poop out in a couple of months, but did they listen?
In process got bitten on the wrist by ... something ... which has swelled up and gotten kinda blistery and itches like crazy. It doesn't look like a brown recluse bite, but whatever it was I'm having a helluva localized allergic reaction. Nature takes her revenge!

It looks fairly tall. Can it be cut back after other things start blooming to keep it short? I was thinking of planting creeping thyme in a few spots, but I think it blooms much later even though it's naturally really short. I have oxalis which the bees love, and which blooms very early (it sounds like at the same time as bees bliss, because the oxalis is just petering out now as the Mexican evening primrose is starting blooming), but I'm hoping for more and different early bees nectaries.
I hope you find something to keep the itch at bay from your bug bite!

Been out for my walk. Woke up with a cramp in my left leg that went from ankle up into my thigh.
It stopped hurting and I thought the walk would work out the sore muscle in my lower leg. It did not.

The Bee's Bliss IS fairly tall..up to my knees. I was looking at pruning it back severely, but I'm ripping it out for a vegetable patch instead.
It doesn't prune well. Not that it probably wouldn't come back after severe pruning, but it's ridiculously resistant even to well-sharpened pruners, loppers, and shears. (I tried all of them) It actually rips apart with your hands much more easily because the "joints" are fairly week, so keeping it in check would probably require tearing it apart by hand.
Also, hubby tried burning it in the fireplace. It wouldn't burn, not even the dried-out stuff.
