While I agree there is way too many people on this planet, I'm not sure killing off billions of people through virus is the way to go about it.
Pandemics tend to wipe out particular people with particular immune systems, and the only thing that has allowed us to survive as a species has been our vast differences.
The three major plagues in history were less than 5 years. That isn't going to limit the population enough. There is no way this will last 5 years with the focus it is getting, thankfully.
We need to convince people that two children per partner is enough. Long term sustainability should be the focus.
If this particular bug just wiped out fascists, I would agree

It would take a lot more than 15M * 5 for that. That's 75M, not even a drop in the bucket of a global population that's ~93x bigger than that number. (Assuming my sticky zero key worked correctly.)
