Yup. Shelves were pretty empty at the grocery store. Still got almost everything I wanted though. Except for milk. That was the first time I couldn't buy milk when I needed it. A bunch of idiots are sitting on 10 gallons they're never going to drink before it expires.

My buddy's fiancee tends bar in Illinois and she's out of a job until at least the 30th. He wasn't sure yet when I talked to him if that news came before or after the announcement, so it might be longer than that. Even if they keep her on payroll that time, waitresses and bartenders don't get paid dick without their tips, so they're going to have a fun time in the near future.

It was really nice of Pritzger to fuck so many people over like that. Maybe they should just do what he did and take their toilets out of their bathrooms so they don't have to pay property taxes this year.

Chinese industrial production declined by 13.5 per cent over the first two months of the year, combined data for January and February showed.

This was the first decline on record.

Retail sales, a key metric of consumption in the world’s second largest economy, fell by 20.5 per cent, again the first decline on record.

The US stock market’s big declines can be seen as reactions to rational projections of exponentially increasing impacts with each passing day. What happened to China can happen to US.

Dare I say, I think in the dawning days of the actual apocalypse, you and I might actually become friends.

I had a smile while walking down the practically empty aisles of the grocery store yesterday. I'm not a "whistler", but I almost felt like whistling while I slowly strutted down the aisles just scoping things out and giving smiles to anyone who caught my eye.

I almost felt like I was at home yesterday while I was out. All of those wasted years in my mid 20's to early 30's being paranoid that the world was going to come crumbling down thanks to our collective governments while nobody else even put any thought into any of it.

I've long since stopped hoarding stuff. My brother used to laugh at me back while we worked together and I had at least a year's worth of canned goods clogging up what little cabinet space we had in our apartment kitchen.

I see the panic that used to be inside my head on the faces of normal everyday people right now. And here's me, not being worried about things. Staying calm. Almost enjoying this. Being the voice of reason. Being the smiling face to a stranger who needs to see one. Telling the cashier that she's doing a great job and that this will all pass and things will get back to normal soon.

I think there are probably quite a few people who are enjoying this for various reasons. The number one reason is probably just a forced break from the monotony of their own boring and often pointless existances. It's one thing feel the immersion of watching The Walking Dead and empathizing with well written and acted characters, but it's another thing entirely to live it... Even just experiencing the sensations of a small taste of what that world might be like.

I think in retrospect we're going to realize that a lot of things that were done in the last week were mistakes. The worst thing among them is cancelling sports and new movies and most of the Circus that people use as diversions from their lives in the best of times.

I'm not a sports fan, and I don't watch much movies or TV these days, but I know that modern people need these things. I'd say in a time like this, they need them more than ever. I sure hope that Comcast and the other cable companies are up to the challenge of all the additional bandwidth that's going to be straining the system in the next month or so until the panic dies down. The last thing you want is a bunch of temporary unemployed people worrying about the future for themselves and their families with zero distractions and nothing to do but sit inside all day long and "think".

I hate football, and always have, but I have some serious respect and appreciation for those in charge to come out yesterday and say that they have every intention of starting the season when it's supposed to be started (early September, with about a month of preseason training/games).

Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong and half the country is dead by then. But I don't think so.

The NFL is in a great position to have time to wait this out, and I applaud them for coming out and saying this right now when people needed to hear it. They could just as easily have come out with a "wait and see" response further fueling fear, but by definitively saying that the show will go on they gave people hope of light at the end of the tunnel. I would imagine that even people who don't care for football or sports in general have to find comfort in that.

I bet all the time. The prediction was the S&P 500 could fall to as low as 2,000 points if the economic impact of the virus worsens but expected the index to reach 3,200 by the end of 2020. There is an opportunity to make money if you got guts. But you won't take it because you are afraid of losses. I will because I'm unafraid of being poor. And the difference in results between you, at least what you claim, and me, which I know with certainty, are explained by the difference between fearful and fearless.

S&P 500 closed today at 2,386.13 down by -324.89 (-11.98%)

Dow closed today at 20,188. This is 31.7% off the Record All-Time High.

Hey!! Dow is nearing 20K. May be time to jump off!!

This is a one-day loss of 10.2% of the Record High. Taht is almost half of the 22% drop in 1987.

This seems a bit of a bargain price to buy in at. Certainly, at some point the Dow will return to around 30K, and surpass that mark. So buying now will ensure a 50% gain - it is just not certain how long that will take. With Trump, most likely within a year or so.
But, we might see even better bargains. If the Dow can drop to 15,000 then a 100% gain can be expected. If down to about 10K, then a 200% return.
For those who have money to invest, now is the critical time. Best pay attention.
