I predict it will go down to around 23,000 then start creeping up. But after dawdling several months between 25 & 26, the kaos perpetrated by Putin to ruin the election will trigger a REAL crash. I'm tokking cliff dive without a parashoot.

My advise: invest in long term storable food, E-rationz and set up a rainwater collection & purification system.

A coronavirus-stricken stock market has seen $4.3 trillion in value vanish over the past 7 sessions, and Wall Street is wondering if the Fed can heal it.

Statistics don’t necessarily capture the severity and velocity of the move in stocks, which had only days before been putting in all-time highs. Indeed, the deterioration from the peak has been nothing short of breathtaking, highlighted by the S&P 500’s fastest slide from a record close to correction in history.

All totaled, global equity markets have wiped out $7 trillion from the levels of Feb. 19, when the S&P 500 notched its record, and the U.S. market alone has lost $4.3 trillion, according to Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices.

President Trump, who CNBC reported has leaned this week on the Federal Reserve to intervene to help address the possible the fallout from the spread of coronavirus, did so more explicitly in a Saturday press conference, saying the Fed should be a leader rather than a follower in slashing target lending rates in response to the disease outbreak.

Trump has frequently cited the stock markets as a proxy for the fiscal success of his administration and for the economy, opined that the markets “will all come back.”

Trade wars may eventually be resolved, but the coronavirus has the potential to deliver lasting disruption to supply chains. To think, the markets had been fretting a few short months ago about an unceasing tariff clash between China and the U.S.

Trump is panicking this morning:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
As usual, Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve are slow to act. Germany and others are pumping money into their economies. Other Central Banks are much more aggressive. The U.S. should have, for all of the right reasons, the lowest Rate. We don’t, putting us at a competitive disadvantage. We should be leading, not following!

Trump wants the Fed to drop interests rates to the same as Australia. Does Trump really think lowering rates by 1% will fix the Dow? He probably is dumb enough to believe it.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Australia’s Central Bank cut interest rates and stated it will most likely further ease in order to make up for China’s Coronavirus situation and slowdown. They reduced to 0.5%, a record low. Other countries are doing the same thing, if not more so. Our Federal Reserve has us paying higher rates than many others, when we should be paying less. Tough on our exporters and puts the USA at a competitive disadvantage. Must be the other way around. Should ease and cut rate big. Jerome Powell led Federal Reserve has called it wrong from day one. Sad!

I look forward to Trump suggesting that interest rates become negative numbers. Don't stop at 0.1% interest. Keep going to -1.0%, -1.5%, -2.0% . . . -10.0% interest! Wouldn't it be great if the Federal Reserve paid 10% interest to borrowers? Borrow $10 billion from the Fed, hold it for a year, and your profit would be $1 billion for doing nothing with the borrowed money.

1) As Trump requested, Federal Reserve responded:

For release at 10:00 a.m. EST
The fundamentals of the U.S. economy remain strong. However, the coronavirus poses evolving risks to economic activity. In light of these risks and in support of achieving its maximum employment and price stability goals, the Federal Open Market Committee decided today to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/2 percentage point, to 1 to 1-1/4 percent.

2) But Trump wants more:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Federal Reserve is cutting but must further ease and, most importantly, come into line with other countries/competitors. We are not playing on a level field. Not fair to USA. It is finally time for the Federal Reserve to LEAD. More easing and cutting!

3) Dow Jones Industrial Average responded to Trump by ending the day at

25,917.41, down 785.91, down 2.94%
