In a normal trial, the jury need not worry about what the defendant who do to them if he goes free. A jury of GOP Senators must worry about what defendant Trump will do them. The GOP Senators have to be very circumspect about what they say around Trump's crimes. Democratic Senators don't have that worry because Trump has already declared himself their natural enemy.
