To be fair, his exact words were "Let's give him a fair trial and hang him. It's the verse of that."
I could see fans of Firefly especially being confused by this remark, thinking he meant that this is the universe where we give him a fair trial and hang him.
This probably would have been avoided if he had payed any attention to English classes. I suggest he call JO and get the Nualf starter kit.

I had to go to the linked article to get the video where he said the "verse", but I just watched the video in the linked article.
"You aren't going to 'timidate me", he proclaims.
"They can 'temp' all they want to", somehow leaving both the beginning and the ending of the word he intended to say in limbo.
He then does go on to correctly use the word intimidate three times later in the video, so he clearly is aware that intimidate is a word, and now it's just up for debate if he thinks that timidate and intimidate are two different words, or if his terrible speech patterns are just completely "rratic".
